My Review of Paul Dayton J/B

I had been looking around for a jump/break cue for some time now. After looking at many different cue builder web sites, reading many reviews and builder posts here on AZ and talking to a few builders, I decided to go with a Paul Dayton cue. I chose a Bocote and Spanish Olivewood combination with nice looking ring work.
Paul Dayton was very easy to work with and treated me with respect. Roughly eight weeks later there was a notice on my door that my cue arrived. The package was waiting for me at the post office. Oh.... the excitement as I went to pick it up. From the minute I opened the priority mail box I was impressed. The cue came in a nice felt case, not one of those thin plastic sleeves. The Bocote was awesome with a vibrant pattern – a class A looking piece no doubt. The Olivewood was a nice offset for the Bocote. The combination of the woods makes for a very striking design. Paul’s fine craftsmanship and attention to detail is easily seen in the final product.

The picture truly does not do this cue justice. Paul's finishing work to bring out the life in the woods is second to none. At 18.4 ounces, a 13mm shaft and a Sumo tip this cue breaks like a monster and so far jumps best on longer jumps (I am still getting used to the jump portion.) Paul's taper provides a solid, stiff hitting cue, but has just enough flex to provide great feedback for control. I would highly recommend a cue from Paul Dayton.

I have no doubt that any cue Paul makes, j/b or otherwise, would play great. I've bought quite a few(15-20) custom cues in the last couple years and no other has played as well as either my full custom Dayton Rambow style cue which was stolen, or for that matter my Dayton ebony sneaky. My highest endorsement...Tom

Jump Break

One of the nicer jump breaks I've seen.
Paul Dayton builds great cues. and a heck of a nice guy.
Everyone i've talked to loves his cues and I have one that hits great.

This is the first JB i've seen from him
