AZ'ers Can you help ID?

Kobachi

Scarred but Smarter
Hello all,

I posted pics of this cue about 4-5 years ago, got a few suggestions (Adams, Helmstetter...) but thought I'd get a fresh set of eyes on it, maybe someone might have come across one of these at some point.

4 points, 4 veneers (green red green black)
2 windows in butt w/ green red green
looks like mop in boxes, and dots above, below.
maple stitch rings
Bumper has small phillips screw going into hex bolt, about 6" long.
I'm not good with joint screws, 5/16? Like a meucci.

The kicker is what looks like PR on the butt...no clue what it stands for.

Thanks for taking a look and I appreciate any input

p.s. it's an ebay cue which was delivered to me from the east coast about 6-7 yrs ago.

Thanks again everyone.

the joint...

I think that's lacquer that's flaking off of the joint...maybe a bad refinish? I dunno...

Here's the PR...

forgot to throw one of these in too...

I have seen a total of three of these recently.

I am thinking right now that somebody had them imported and branded. Kind of like the SlyFox cues....maybe a store chain, bar/restaurant chan. I know Dave& Busters did them. Clicks did them.....many have done them. The Clicks cues were Huebler of course.

I think these are Taiwan cues. Not sure though.

I used to own one of these. They are an import cue, and nearly impossible to find any info on. The name of the cue is a Penray.

Most of them that I have ever seen, were made in the mid to late 80's

You just solved a real mystery. We've been trying to place these for a while!

I figured they were Taiwan cues......

The post is from 2009 and he says he's been trying to find out the ID since five years before.....and it's now 2012!

That would put it around eight years to identify that cue. Is that a record? Is there a prize? LOL!

What do I win???? I like cash :D

Cash my friend you will not receive, but on your deathbed, you shall receive, total consciousness...so you've got that going for you...which is nice :)

Thanks Prulheire, I've kept this in the closet all these years, and you finally solved the mystery.

In between your post and me putting it away, I took the wrap off hoping to find something under there to help identify, no luck. I'll include a couple of pictures, looks like a full splice?

So if you're ever coming through Chicago, I'll get you a couple of beers, ya' know, for the effort ;)

Amazing, this AZ place. Thanks guys,

Kevin.

Now there is a prize!

Can't argue with beer man!

I dig the cue. It's surprising how many of these four point with veneer Taiwan cues are full splice.

With a good ferrule and tip many of them shoot just fine but usually they come with a crap ferrule and tip.

The shaft wood is hit or miss (mostly miss), many are crap, a few are average, and very few have really good shaft wood.

Glad you got it nailed down. I have actually been trying to figure out the PR cues for several months now. I was amazed when Prulhiere nonchalantly came along and was like "oh yeah, I know what that is".

I have 2 of these cues and I got my answer, now, what is the VALUE!!

I have on that is a duplicate to the one that had the wrap removed?

I also, have a Wrapless, Solid Piece of Birdseye Maple, with rings, very nice quality BEM. This one is in 98% condition.

HOW much??

$100.00 or closer to $300.00

The 4 point cost, $370.00 in 1989, just for info sake.

Value today??

It would maybe get $150 on eBay, but probably less.

This is most definitely a blank produced by Adams... They had a lot of 1 off name brands in the 80s
