Can anyone direct me to a thread or some other resource that gives directions on how to remove varnish from a cue. I am interested in the linseed oil finish.

Thanks,
Marcus

There's quite a few over on the Weasels board www.thesnookerforum.com the older threads being better as the questions been raised so many times no body gives a detailed answer nowadays.

I've refinished 20 or so cues using raw linseed oil mainly and think i've got it down to an art now I'll post how i go about it now including some pictures and a few pitfalls and tips i've discovered along the way.

I actually did it using a piece of broken glass once - a technique that was recommended to me by one of the old-timers in the poolroom. It worked pretty well. Obviously you can just use sandpaper too but I'd recommend grabbing a rack cue or two or something and practicing on them before working over something you care about.

There are many such articles in woodworking magazines as well as the snooker forum.
If you do not want to use/do anything complex, you can remove the varnish with sand paper with wet and dry sanding.
