i was just going to say to all that i have a problem when i see wrong advice in pool i dont know everything but i did spend many years analizing the game . what i mean is i will probaly question their statement in detailnot in a mean way but no since in spreading guesses or falsehoods that would be counterproductive t those who want to learn. if we are here to learn then lets do so accuratly and in detail . we shouldnt be mad or worried if a better player questions you advice
you may help you if your mistaken and your game may improve now wouldnt that suck :D

by the way guys in 93 i played from jan. to dec. no poker only pool .just to see how good i would play totaly devoting my year to pool . went to canada played three tournys in calgary, and winnipeg and another place. one a week for three weeks. won all three. net 4k. then played sone tournys small did well in june i played imperial palace pro tour won a few matches then played earl lose 11-2 beat kim, cj, and others play earl for 2nd & 3rd i win 11-9. i was playing good now i play johnny in the finals. to cut it short i have johnny 10-7 then 12-10 ofcourse i get no more rolles johnny wins three in a row 1 game at a time. i take second. i won six in row and no one but carter got past 5. i was in dead stroke then they said take hour dinner break got tired played poker with pool playrs all night. beat me 15-10.

somewhere there were small ones . next tourny lexington first draw johnny he beat me im in losers . win a match or two next day last day i took second to nick varner only slept 2 hours . i won 10 matches to take second who i beat jeff carter hill hill. then tony ellin ,cj,davenport, earl, and five other  . final tourney l.a open 9ball race to 11. 9ball banks race to 5, onepocket race to 4. was playing so good incardone asked me to make a 20% saver he had me 7-5 at the time ;) i win 11-7 . parica 11-9 dennis h. 11-8, cant remember who else .no contest beat roger griff. 11-5 . next banks only close one was parica first match of day partied all night . had me 3-0 i take break come back run 3 racks then win next game run out win 5-3  no one gets past one or two . finals donny anderson dont care who he is cause i havent missed a bank and wasnt about to miss . beat him 5-2 three rail the last ball

the tables pockets were about 4 inch pocket also . hmm only guy that wants to play is bugs but 500 or 1000 dollaer sets didnt intrest me. i really couldnt see how he would have beat me on those tables that day but didnt feel like playing.

next stop north carolina im out of tourny johnny beat me on hill again  my life story with him . but he is one of the best 9ball players that ever lived though so oh well :p been drinking alot everyone wolfing lets play shannon no ok on bar table give me 8 ball no. finaly ok wild on my break call on your break. bet 5000 two ten ahead sets since on bar table . im drunk but still thought i would win its 1100 pm. before i knew it i was 14 games down then got alert noooo. bout 700 in the morning got even . i win first game break run the set out. hes furious im laughing. not in a bad way cause we were friends. first time we played. dean was steaking him . went back and fourth about 1200 next morning we called it a draw both dead tired.

onepocket short details got to finals got beat by steve cook from florida
4-2 had a chance to tie it missed combo for the run i take second. net win 27000

this and the buddy hall match happened in 93 . that was the most pool i played a year straight since i was 20 cause at 21 i got hooked on poker . that wasnt good for ny game. i would go to card room go broke punp up in pool go back pump up go broke back to poolroom at 22 went to cali . hard times card room did that till 28 . didnt play a lot of big tournys some but was usualy out of stroke till i was 28 that was 93.

november challenge match with buddy hall . my friend that watched me grow up in pool in s.l.c utah loved buddys said he was the best he ever saw . and wanted to see us play for years cause only utah and denver montana players knew this . but
believe it or not after i played 9ball and banks for 2 and a half to 3 years
anyone who came through left sad that a 18 year old kid robed them. i started playing when i was 16. example frenchie from canada came through some of you know him. it 22 years ago he had lots of gamble started 50 a game 800 winner bet 100 now ok 5 hours later i win 5500. he was a run out player. gives you and idea how i played a 18 and two years of playing. i missed no balls .played on stevens clothcause somonis . and controled my cue ball at and shot straight as i did in 93 no joke .barllow was one of the best golf players on the six by twelve no one came though and beat him at that time. till i learned it quickly and we would play every weekeng for 20 a game for practice i would beat him for 500 to 1000 but we would play for 24 hours . a few times 48 . ran many sixe holes and cant count how many fives .many old time players that were around and played and seen all the best players before and in buddys time and believed i could play with any of them. as did i , i ran lots of fours and fives easy . played the ghost alot and ran 13 tables, ran 15 balls twice then 13 in one pocket playing a friend made a ball one the break and he said keep shooting ran 15 see if i can do it again? didnt make a ball he said shoot did it again . one more time broke ran 13.

this is not smoke people . at 20 i went to st. louis and played gary lutz some of you know him . he owed a pool room at that time . i will be 40 in 3 months :( played 50 a game then 100 he wants eight ok then 7 ok 8 hours later i win 5300 never missed on tight samonis.

ok me and buddy in 93 two day event a race to 40 . i win 38-40 dont think anyone missed . at 19 and 20 my cue ball controll compared to 93 is the same . but was smarter in 93 and onepocket game was way better . i was 18 when ed kelly and rex came through he beat me in onepocket but i beat him at banks and nine ball

not bragging but no system used . and some of you might have wanted to know how good i played when i decided to play. i spent the first 2 years in the pool room from 1200 noon till the closed and studied the game . no teachers but i caught on to important things quickly by playin better players no spot . cheeres

Thanks for sharing, Mark.

I remember you as a pro, and we've even done lunch together. You joined Tommy Kennedy, Tony Robles, and I for lunch during what I believe was the 1996 World 8-ball championships in Vegas, even though your competitive days were already behind you. Even though the tourney was at the Riviera, I think the lunch we had together was at Caesar's Palace.

Mark, I see you getting a little bit intrigued by this forum, and think you might come to enjoy it the way so many of us do. I love the fact that so many that are drawn to pool for so many different reasons have a chance to chat here.

if johnny or earl came on and they were willing to give advice would they be any different?

Mark,

I have the tape of you and Mikey Sigel, so I am a little familiar with your game. I would compare your game as similar in style to Earl, lots of firepower, big free stroke, really smooth.

Did you play Ronnie Rosas much out here?

Chris

You did seem to be free wheeling and still putting the pressure on Mike. I can only imagine how you would do in stroke. You do have a real nice, loose, stroke that only the "naturally" talented guys seem to possess.

One thing they always said about Nick Varner. He was the most "un-talented" player there was, but such a dedicated student/player of all games that he worked his way to world beater status. I always liked that.

I knew a guy who frequented Nick's dad's poolroom and said one day when Nick was young he practiced the 9 ball break for 8 hours straight with only a few cigarette breaks. He said that he could tell then Nick was going to be a champion someday. I guess you 've got to have that dedication.

Hey Mark,
Little correction.Tthe event in Imperial Palace in June 93 was NOT a Pro Tour event. It was a AAA event ,McDermott Masters as I remember it.But all the pros were there.I remember one shot you pulled on Tony Ellin to beat him.Tony did not have awnser for your defensive move. After the match Johny came to try the shot and Johny also did not know how to deal with that situation.I still remember that shot. At Lexington u asked me to play you Honolulu or Banks for 1000 $.I declined to play a monster banker and a kicker like you.LOL.I will still decline to play u.Cheers

Hi,
I do not know how to use WEI table.
9 ball froze to side rail one and half to two inches near the corner pocket of kitchen.Cue ball froze to the opposite side rail one and half to two inches to the corner pocket of kitchen.I do not remember how that situation developed.tony tried scratched his head and finally tried to bank it and failed.Johny tried the same thing and failed.I think kicking has higher percentage than banking on that shot.
Normally I do not remember a shot I played 10 seconds ago but that particular shot stuck in my head.

Click on the link, and once it shows the table, click on paste. This will clear all the balls off the table. The balls will be placed in order right below the table. Click on the balls and drag them to whatever layout you are going to make. Use the arrows to show the path a ball will take. Each arrow has two dots, one at the front and one at the back. Click on one end of the arrow on the dot and drag that to where you want it, and then click on the other end. That part is self explanatory. When you are done with the diagram, click on copy. After that, go to this thread and make a new post, and click paste. A bunch of letters, numbers, and characters will show up, usually a long line of them. That is the diagram in text. To view that, copy it from start to end, go to the WEI table and click paste, and it will show the diagram.

Here is the link to the WEI table.

So Mark, are ya goin' to Riverside this weekend? Same question to you too Jimmy. I won't be there, unfortunately, so you 2 may have a chance win. :D BTW, cool stories Mark, I gotta agree, you were definitely hittin' 'em good back then, soooo damn straight, with authority, and with that cocky ass personality of yours, wooooooWEEEEEE, in-fucking-timidating! :D And I don't mean that in a bad way Mark, you know that, but for those of you that don't know him personally, he could win a lot of matches in his chair. I know, that's where you want your opponent, in the chair, but not this guy. You knew that when you missed a shot, that it was now your turn to sit and watch the show, and it didn't take long for him to hit you with 3 or 4 racks either. Oh, and play safe on the guy? Where? There's not a safe place to leave him. He banks EVERYTHING in! Keep playing poker Mark, really, and I mean that in the nicest possible way, LOL. Peace, John.
