The title pretty much says it all...LoL.

I will be needing a larger case soon, and had considered possibly going with a butterfly-style case, partly to help reduce weight. I would like to hear from anyone who has or has had one, and your opinions, whether yea or nay.

Thanks in advance!!

truthfully lisa, i dont know what brand it is, it's not arrived yet. bought used on here

I use below case I bought from J&J and I have a bunch of others. I like this one as it's leather.

INS-B48COM
Hold 4 butts 8 shafts, leather exterior in burgundy and black combination design,

I hate the inside of this case (rubber band thing to hold the cue and shafts) but I like the fact that sections are velcro'd. I'm looking for someone to saw me pouches to replace the rubber bands.

Thank you! This is one of the things I have been wondering about, and it's a great point...I would think that sleeves would be gentler and more secure as well.

I have the same case and I love it. I had three Silver Foxes prior to getting the Instroke. I liked the Silver Fox case, but the zippers broke on all three. They did warranty they though.

Thanks for your input! What exactly about the case that you like? I have never owned a butterfly case before, so am wondering what the highlights are...besides a reduction in overall loaded weight. What, if anything, would you change or like to see added? Basically, if you were having a butterfly case built from scratch to your specs....what would you do with it?

Was it one of the Instroke butterfly cases that was for sale here? Just curious.

Lisa

no, i cant even find the thread now

i was just messin' with ya lisa
the only reason i got one on the way,
1) it was only $40 for a 4x8
2) my 3x5 hard case is literally falling apart
as clumsy as i am, i honestly prefer a hard case though
but, i'm always carrying around cues in progress, aside from my one personal playing cue

LoL!! Thankfully, I have not had a case in the last almost 10 years that fell apart on me. My issue is that I am now outgrowing my 2x5/3x4 case, and would really rather not have to use my 1x2 for additional storage, since I bounce back and forth between full carry for league/tournament play and single carry for when I am out to just play for whatever, or a smaller weekly shoot type situation.

I am currently building a few butterfly cases. I have just about refined the interior the way I have wanted to do it for ten years.

Y'all are going to see a new butterfly emerging from this cocoon. :-)

use a mezz 3.5 and i love it. can carry my hager extension in it no prob also my jump cue and butt, and enough room for 2, 3 or 4 cues if I want to pack em in there.

very sleek, very modern looking.....

The Mezz case does have a very pretty exterior look to it. I thought the one that you had when we met up was very attractive. One of these days I will get Kaz Miki away from his current supplier and get him to buy cases from us.

In four days though I am going to bring butterfly cases to a new level. ( I hope)

:-)

I can't wait to see it John. I am sure it will be bad to the bone. I am actually looking forward to you making me a case real soon.

You should give Kaz some talking. Mezz has discountinued the colourful 3x5s, but are still doing the 4x8s in leather. I have both versions, but I prefer the leather 4x8s.

Can't Wait to see them. One of these days I hope to get one of the celtic gtf cases that I saw that you did.

I personally love my butterfly case. I have owned just about all types of cases from Justis, Murnak, GTF, and the cheaper instroke and other tooled cases as well.. I got tired of the case weight and not being able to put my cue extension in the case.

I bought a cheap butterfly case from Omega at this years DCC and it's certainly not fancy nor is it real leather I'm pretty sure but I could care less. I can hold my playing cue, break cue, jump cue and extension easily and it does not weigh much.. I love how easy it is to get to my stuff now.

It only took me 20 years to see the light.. YMMV

I got this one from Omega and it's worked well. I get kind of paranoid because the sleeves only hold the cues in the middle so the ends are protruding and the exterior doesn't feel like it would withstand a lot of force.

I've been thinking about getting one of the Instrokes shown earlier, but will see if I can check them out at the SBE first.

I have your Omega case and use it as more storage case or when I want to transport bunch of cues.

The Instroke leather case I have is much sturdier case and it's my daily case. I consider it semi hard case due to much thicker exterior. Of course,it's also 4 times the cost of Omega case.

Michael-Hoang (AZ handle) from Omega Billards once sold a bunch of these economy "butterfly" cases for $50 .. some of them were really good bargain, I thought. I had one that I liked a lot from design and functionality perspective. I tried to find leather version of this case and settled on Instroke leather case.

Jim Murnak also makes NICE butterfly case and have ready made cases on http://go4pool.com/ but then it's at least 2x the cost of my Instroke. case. It does have sleeves inside though.

Murnak 3x5 $500
