AZ'rs I met in Tulsa

I just returned from Tulsa where I tried to play in the 1-pocket tournament. The event was really great and I hear the sponsors want to do it again next year, so that is great news for all. Gabe was a great host and all the folks that helped run the tournament and all the Magoo's staff were terrific.

What I personally learned (note to self): don't play on the tv table, & I cannot be the primary commentator in the booth. I would be fun with someone who can commentate then I can just pipe in and be funny, with the occassional insight) :frown:. But I thank Ray for giving me a try.

AZ'rs I met (in no particular order): Hell on Heelz; akaTrigger (Happy Birthday!); Big Truck; Cuephoric (but I already knew Shane); Richardson; TheMadScientist; GreyGhost; LoveTheGame (knew Ron, too); The Coats; Jes Piddlin; CrownCues; ftgokie; & TxOnePocket. There may have been more but I can't remember and didn't write them down. I also think I met that Charlie guy who makes the BreakRak - he was in a wheelchair and very nice.

I want to thank everyone I met from our community for being so friendly. Although I tracel alone to Tulsa and have never been in that part of the country, I felt like I had plenty of friends. Thanks.

Great thread

How much weight did you have to give up....

You've got a lot of friends in this part of the world too.

Peace

Was a pleasure meeting you and chatting from time to time there. Had a great time at the tournament and will most likely go again. By then my 1pkt game might be a tad better and ill give the tournament a shot !

Dave,

Thats the nice thing about going to OK or TX...they really make you feel at home. In fact, anywhere in the Southern states...you will find you will be treated well, and meet some super neat people. I've made a ton of lifelong friends there.

Not that the rest of the rest of this great land, is chopped liver...but that part of the country is out of sight for hospitality.

SJD

PS..Hope to get up your way this spring...Lots of good people in Colorado too, including a daughter, a son, and a whole bunch of grandkid's. (even a few great grandkids).:outtahere:

Grey Ghost came over to my shop and hung out while I refinished a cue for him. I did not get to spend very much time at the tourney as I had to work all weekend. I am very disappointed I did not get to meet ya'll. I did get to see some Thursday night action and Sunday action.

I'll keep working on it Dave!

Sorry for the bad wording. I meant a primary "color" commentator that can do a better job than me to describe the shot options (like the great Silver and JoeyA), I fell a litttle short in that department. You do an excellent job in the booth and have a great voice for it. Plus, the work you put in the production is amazing. all the thought to get the right camera setups, do the setting up and the tireless amount of time you spend in the booth is crazy.

We all appreciate what you do and will continue to support your steaming. Thanks!

Don't feel bad Dave, Ray scolded me for over analyzing the match I sat in on for a few games.:):embarrassed2: I swear that Ray has at least 4 hands and two brains, with all the things that he is doing while still maintaing the commentary. His set up is incredible and only getting better each and every event.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting several of the AZers there at the event, I wish I could have met more but I was always sweating the TV table or in action the entire time I was at the event.

As always Jim McDermott provides a great environment for the players. Gabe was a wonderful host and Evelyn and Danny Dysart kept the tournament moving along nicely. That was a great event that I hope continues to only grow into a larger and larger one pocket event in years to come.

I wish we could have played one pocket, sorry I god kidnapped into playing a guy that I beat 20 years ago in 9-ball. That was the first time I gambled at 9-ball in about a decade, luckily he forced me to come away with a little cheese;):)

Take Care

I watched some of that match and how your opponent played...you made the right decision :thumbup2:. We'll play another time.

Doug,

Mine was a last minute decision - nobody knew I was going, including me until Friday/Saturday before I went. I was surprised to see Ron there, but it was a great visit. That event would be perfect if it was non-smoking, but their ventilation was better than many I have seen.

All good Dave, I knew what you meant. If you spent more time around me, you would realize that while I take my job very serious, I am a clown.. The show is going to the next level as we speak, in part because of great people like yourself that make it great.

Thanks buddy!

I told Ray i wanted to do some commentary. He said ummm, no thanks ! I might have been a little tipsy :P

Heh, i need to get more known :)

I think it was right after you said we need more cursing!! LOL.

Sorry about that, I thought you were kidding about commentating!

Actually i would have loved chat during a match. Don't know if my voice translates well on the air or not. But i know enough about 1pkt i think to be ok !

Oh well, maybe next time :)

Think we met briefly, I was the dashingly handsome guy in the Kansas Jayhawks gear that asked you to sit in the booth with ray!
