Do you want cuebuilding supplies posted in the main forum?

I would like to see a section in the Cues sub-forum, simply because it seem most relevent. If it's relegated to the Main for sale forum most items will simply go unnoticed.

I agree pricing and source info for wholesale materials should be private, but source info for retail materials should be allowed. Retail pricing would be nice, just for the sake of making a sale, but if deemed not-allowed I would go along.

I made the mistake of asking for help in finding a 'Cue Extension' in the Cue Machinery forum. I did so for two reasons:

1. I had been posting a good amount here in ATCM and felt like I was 'hogging up' the space; being a relatively new cue maker, I ask a fair amount of questions.

2. I thought a 'cue extension' was close enough to Cue Machinery and didn't know where else to really post, so I figured what the hell, and I knew I would get mainly cue makers responses, which is what I wanted, and I did. I did not want to post in the Wanted F/S section because I did not feel like I would reach the cue makers as quickly as I did in the Cue Machinery section.

Mr. Wilson came through and gave a warning to me, Dave B, and bapage as a reminder that we posted in the wrong section. I think all three of us did so with the intent of reaching a specific audience and did not want to post in a different section mainly to avoid the general public and specifically to reach cue makers.

I feel like the ATCM is a not only a 'special and unique section', but also busy section and it irritates me that there are a great deal of people who post there and expect an answer to just fall into their lap without exhausting resourcefulness on their own end first.

I personally think there needs to be a new area where people want to reach cue makers and ask about cue supplies in general. I feel that the Wanted F/S section is for people who want to buy a cue and are looking for mainly that. I feel like the Main Forum is just too big and over run with stuff and if I was wanting to deal with cue makers only, it would take much longer than expected to accomplish the task. It would simply get lost in the mix, and what's worse, some 'know-it-all smart ass' may come along and try to piss me off!

I have generally do not like to deal with the majority of AZ simply because there are too many different perspectives and 'everyone is right'. I have now, for the most part, reserved my questions and comments to those with the same mindset I have which is custom cues. I also have received a ton of great info and I try to give back as much as I can to those who truly and sincerely need the help.

I voted #1 as logically this would be the easiest fix to a very simple situation. It really is too bad that a few whiners don't have the balls to come forward and express their opinions but instead have to go crying to a Mod to do their dirty work for them. Some people really need to change their diapers and get on with their life.
Being lazy....I just copied and pasted this from the machinery section that I just posted in.....

I hate bringing up a dead subject and beating it with a tomato stake but, myself, I guess I just don't understand the logistical problems involved with selling cuebuilding related items in a section that will be MORE frequented by cuemakers than a section that is already over flooded with billiards related items that have to be "bumped" literally 4-5 times per day to stay in a visible range to potential customers. Maybe I'm missing the grand scheme of things here.

How hard would it be to sub section a spot for our group to accommodate others with items that are of benefit to them and and their potential customers without having to wade through a sea of unwanted cues, cases and other billiard related items that have nothing to do with building cues? It didn't seem to be a problem when certain people complained about the "raffles" being held in the W/FS section.

Personally, when I go to the W/FS section and have a look, the first two pages are it.........the rest is blah, blah, blah in my mind and I'm confident that it is in other minds also unless these other people I have talked with have been lying to me.
Hopefully you can understand my point and we can get something done for the betterment of everyone involved.



Sorry if I sound a little stressed but it really is a bag of BS.....IMHO.

I don't think there is that much traffic in building supplies to warrent a new section,just change the heading to cue machinery & supplies.

For me, the machinery section is already labeled correctly, as a rule, I go there and ATCM, after that I'm usually gone in 5 seconds.

#1 seems like a easy fix. id hate to have to look in the main forum for cue stuff

First I'm apauled at the thought of adding something to either of the topics, ASK THE CUEMAKER, and or, CUE MACHINERY.
Both were put here to help others, interested in either subject matter.
NOTHING ELSE, PERIOD.....

I'm the person who had ask Mike, to add both of these topics to the discussion board, CUE MACHINERY and ASK THE CUE MAKER, many years back. There just where they need to be, BY THEMSELVES, and left alone. That's where they belong, by themselves, with no additions.

I see so many times, posts get way out of the topics range, and it happens more as time goes by. Leave it for what it was designed for, ask the cue and cue machinery, and nothing else...While at it, keep it on the topics subject matter, as it was intended to be....

Cue supplies and such, should be under there own heading.
There's more than enough stuff posted that doesn't belong in either, ask the cue maker and or cue machinery.

I could not care if I get credit for what I ask Mike to do for ALL CUEMAKERS and MACHINERY BUILDERS. It's helped all, so why confuse, others, with more stuff.

Materials and suppliers of such, should be in it's own catagoy.

Talk about machinery or talk about cues , not where to buy parts and supplies. Please, leave it alone....Show respect to those that really come here to help others..Keep other stuff out..
I'm not a fly by nighter, be here a long time, done much for the billiard community, and not done yet.

Good for you Mike, too many come here and do little for the good of all of us. We can all learn on the subjects we click on....
As you know, I'm damn sure not affraid to tell it like it is.
Keeping to the subjects at hand help all of us. That way, there's not to many post to confuse some folks.
Suppliers, will really come on board with the OWN SECTION, just watch.

My first preference is #1 but just adding a supplies sub section under cues would also be sufficient IMO. In the wanted and FS section supplies get overlooked I'm sure.

Yea, they seem more interested in adding subs like CUE RAFFLE section, but the cuemakers get S$%# on when they ask for something. JMO. It's interesting how fast the mod will respond to a 'someone is selling in the wrong section' complaint, but they let a snarly, bit@#fest thread go on forever before stepping in....
I prefer the cue machinery area, as it's description note already covers this type of sale.

Blud, I have respect for most who have carved a path that others will follow. But I'm a little confused at how a "I have some wood or whatever cue parts" for sale thread would confuse even the most illiterate no matter what section it would be put in? Isn't that what this board is all about? Helping, directing, and guiding the inexperienced and under knowledged no matter how many posts it takes?

I voted no# 2 , but just adding /supplies to the
cue machinery is just as good, if not better.

Like alot of others, I check out the Ask the Cuemaker &
Cue Machinery the most.

Wanted/For sale section ....any post gets bumped to
x number of pages back very quickly & the cuebuilder/
cue repair people do not even see it!!!

A section for only Cuebuilders & Cue Repair people
would be great

You would need a password to enter this area.
It could produce some very informative discussions/
exchange of methods, without others (who know nothing
about repairs or cuebuilding) contaminating the issues.

I check two sections everyday and that's enough. Once in a while one of the regulars here have something to sale of interest to other cuemakers..I see nothing wrong with listing where cuemakers go most,

Ryan.....This is because there is really no logic in doing so. No one yet has given a logical reasoning explanation for putting something in a section to view by a very large number of people that will have absolutely no interest in the offering. How many here go to the 14.1 section? the carom billiards section? the room owner section? the Seminole pro tour section? the Bud Bowl section? Even though these are are good sections and have a purpose.

My point is, if you have no interest in these sections you don't frequent them and have to wade through stuff that you have no interest in. If you are not interested in a parts/material section you will not go to it and wade through a bunch of threads that have no interest to you. If you are interested in these items you will frequent this section and not have to wade through numerous other threads that have no interest to you.
