What Are You Looking At: From Vertical to Down on the Shot

What do you look at or visually focus on as you transition from a vertical position to a horizontal one?

Thanks

I look at where the cueball needs to be to pocket the object ball, aligning myself from the center of the cueball to the aiming point/line of the shot. As Im getting down on the shot, my bridgehand and backhand are brought onto the same plane. After I am down on the shot, I verify where my tip is pointing in relationship to the object ball, where it is contacting the cueball, and if my body is lined up so that my stroke is straight and on the same plane of the shot. Then pull the trigger.

Thanks. So, your eyes are locked on a specific spot until you complete the transition? Are your eyes guiding your body or is your body guiding your eyes?

River City, Is right on target. The most common mistake made in pool is people line up the shot from where they are going to hit the cue-ball. Always line up the shot from the middle of the cue-ball standing as far away from the table as possible. (Stay within the city limits.) It's like lining up a put on the golf course. You don't stand directly over the ball when you line it up.

PhilosopherKing, stop making the game harder than it really is.

Thanks. I try to keep it simple, but I usually end up complicating things even more... If that's possible.

real simple.

when you are standing up and LOOKING AT THE SHOT THIS IS THE BEST YOU WILL EVER SEE EVERYTHING. BE AWARE OF WHICH EYE IS SHOOTING THE EYE.
GET AN IMAGE FROM HERE HOW MUCH OF THE OBJECT BALL YOU WANT TO HIT. 1/2 1/4 WHATEVER. HAVE AN IMAGE.

I USE MY RIGHT FOOT TO START MT STANCE. THIS IS ALL DETERMINED BY YOUR EYE ALIGNMENT.

BRING THE TIP OF THE CUE UP TO THE CUE BALL BUT DON'T BRING YOUR HEAD DOWN RIGHT AWAY BUT KEEP IT UP A LITTLE HIGHER. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO SEE THE SHOT BETTER AND GET YOUR FINE TUNING OF YOUR EYE ALIGNMENT.

ONCE YOU FEEL YOU EYES ARE RIGHT YOU CAN SHOOT WHERE YOUR HEAD IS OR DROP STRAIGHT DOWN LIKE IN A SLOT TO THE LOWER SPOT THAT YOU LIKE TO SHOOT.

THIS WILL ALSO TEACH YOU THAT SOMETIMES YOU SEE THE SHOT FROM A LITTLE HIGHER UP BETTER.

ALL THIS TIME THE CUE STICK HAS BEEN TOTALLY STILL WHILE I'M AIMING. IF I STILL HAVE THAT GOOD PICTURE THAT I HAD FROM THE BEGINNING NOW I TAKE A FEW PRACTICE STROKES.

IF THE SHOT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD YOUR EYES ARE NOT IN THE RIGHT PLACE AND YOU BETTER START OVER.

IF IT LOOKS GOOD FIRE AWAY.

SIMPLE BUT YET SO IMPORTANT TO GET IT RIGHT AND THE SAME EVERYTIME.

GOOD LUCK.............
