I dont quite get it. Were these guys playing each other?

If so, isn't that legal being a "game of skill" and betting on one's self?

and no matter what the law, no one was in danger of going to jail im sure.

About 10 years ago, a group of guys on a regular commuter train use to play poker each night. One night they were all arrested. As i remember, all charges were dropped fairly quickly.

Know one of the guys involved. It is my understanding there was more to the situation than the OP let on. Should see him Sunday. I'll try to get the real story.

What about all the challenge matches that have been streamed live from the Riviera in the past. A couple of years ago i watched a 20,000 challenge match between two pro's only 100 feet from where these guys got thrown out.

bullshooter,

Any chance you are an Oklahoma Oneida? One of the guys on my Wednesday BCA team goes back and forth from Upstate New York to visit his mother in OK. He's a White Eagle.

In the challenge matches, they clearly state they are playing a two man tournament with a $10,000 entry fee.

Badabing
Security dude: "Are you two gambling?"
Players: "No, we're playing in a two man tournament."
What could the security guy actually do if they said that?

yeah they should have lied to him. all they would have had to do was say he owed him for something the day before or something.

Nevada Gaming Comission has a web-site, and I am sure if you are concerned about the why's you could contact them, and ask for the Specific Law being broken, and where you could find a explaination of the law, penalties, etc.

Pool - Gambling and the Riviera

It seems there is a lot of bad information here.

In a nutshell, Timmy Heath (who was only allowed to play with the understanding that he would not even fart in public) and a nother gentleman were playing some decent priced pool.

I was there about 1 AM - I think. They were getting a 'little noisy and a little drunk'.

As I understand, the Riv security (who are not the friendliest people in the joint) were in the area and they were attractd by the noise.

One of the players just HAS to yell out (while the security guy is talking to them) - I am tired of playing for $200 - $500 you cheap MF'er. Well, this really got the seciruty guard attention and he threw them out.

Can't say I disagree. People that act like that in a public situation only draw attention to the other 6,700 pool players that might want to make a friendly wager. It is beyond rude and was challeng the authority of the Riv security.

Maybe people will understand that gambling does not have to be 'in your face'. Too much booze and not enough common sense was the problem.

As Scott Lee stated - keep in on 'the low down' and there probalby will not be a problem. But gambling is not 'legal' - but has been tolerated. Just respect where you are and others will respect you.

I was not there - but that is pretty much what happened.

Mark Griffin,

I don't really think it's POSSIBLE for Timmy to play ANY type of pool game without being the loudest clown in the room.

That boy is WHACKED.

LOL.

Mark Griffin,

I Think it makes it more fun to watch as long as the 2 people playin dont care..But thats just me...I saw security get on someone every year i ever been there..But Timmy Heath is classic to watch..

Put_upor_shutup...If you believe that kind of behavior "enhances" watching the match, then it should take place somewhere other than a casino, in full view of security. They have been playing high dollar pool for decades at pool rooms everywhere (including Vegas), with very few mishaps. If this had been at Pool Sharks or The Cue Club there wouldn't have been a peep, regardless of what was said. Of course obnoxious behavior is just that...and many business owners will show people the door who act this way (and good riddance, imo).
