I just got this cue from Bob, and I was thrilled when I pulled it out of the case.
I usually dont get a glimpse at the cues that Bob makes for me, until I get them. Its so much more fun that way....for me anyway. Here is how Bob described the cue
Hey Steve, Cue went out today. Fedex tracking# 872865793500. This is the only ivory nose cue that I've made and I am very pleased with the weight and balance-19.2 oz. I hope you like what I did with your handle idea. I feel the design flows through the cue nicely. The story behind the name goes back to February after I received the sketch you sent. My wifes niece was visiting from Canada and was begging to go up to Disney. Well, we wind up at Epcot world showcase and I walk into Morocco and get mesmerized with the artwork. Their vases, carpets, blankets, all with these geometric shapes and I start thinking about your cue. Long story short I get inspired by this Moroccan art........hence the name "Tangiers".
Quick description; Ivory and Amboyna burl, .015" filaments of paua abalone threaded through the ivory band ringwork with silver border and inlaid into the ivory forearm and butt sleeve. Amboyna burl is laced throughout the ivory in various symetrical shapes to create the overall design element. In the burl handle section ivory is inlaid into the wood tying the front and back sections together and completing the cue. Amboyna joint and butt cap contrast nicely as does the custom ivory joint pin. This was a high risk cue with most of the cuts directly into the ivory blanks. I suffered for this one. Let me know what you think when you get it. Thanks, Bob
