Danny has been a personal friend for sometime now, so Danny sent me a cue for my assesment and refinish early last week. The cue is a Mid-1980's model that was later known as a model 95-17. The cue in my opinion is one of the nicest designs that Meucci made, and I tried to get Danny to sell me the cue:D, but he wanted it for a personal player:(:). Well here you go Danny, I hope you enjoy the cue below are the photo's that you requested that I post upon completion of the cues refinish.

Before refinish:

Thanks for the kind words Lisa, Danny hasn't seen the cue yet but I think he will be happy with the results.

Take care

I'm already happy with the results of this OL-1, and look forward
to the tube arriving at my door.

Imagine, this is one of those "craigslist" finds that I picked up in
Austin, Texas for twenty dollars :p

Received the cue yesterday, and took it out to hit some balls.

The re-finish is as good as it gets, and a big thanks to Craig for
the awesome turn around time (less than 2 weeks including shipping).

The photo's are not nearly representative of the before and after
conditions of this cue. This 25+ year old cue today looks like it
is fresh out of the wrapper 25 years ago.

There is something special about playing with a classy low dollar
cue that was snagged off craigslist for next to nothing that just
can't be beat

That finish looks better than any Meucci I got brand new.....

It looks like he didnt cover the wrap, which is my preference as well.

wrap is not covered. It was Craigs' suggestion to leave it uncovered,
and to install the white w/green speck replacing the white w/black
speck covered wrap that was on it.

It was the right choice.

Refinish

Craig, that cue looks beautiful. I wish I could have seen it before it went out. I guess I better get my ass over to see you more often.

Nice work Craig. Bringing this old cue back to life. I just wish I had the know how of all you cue guys doing this kind of work. To me it takes alot of patience & alot of knowledge to do work like this & to also do it the right way as well. Again great job on the refinish Craig & congrats to Danny on getting a great looking cue.

Many thanks to all who have posted, I enjoy doing this kinda work and I am glad that Danny choose to have the wrap unsealed. I have always thought it was a waste to cover a cues wrap with finish, because to me wraps should be replaced over time as part of maintenance of the cue.

Again thanks to everyone for their comments.

I decided to compliment the re-finish with some joint protectors
from Jim Baxters' shop. His wife Christy is finishing this set now
with a final shaving of the top and bevel to match the cue's
butt cap:
