LOL! I am getting better and worse at the same time. I need to work on my focus.

Runs this evening's practice session were as follows:

14 w/ good BB/CB position, rattled the break ball, broke up the rack)
15 w/ good BB/CB position, JUST missed the rack with CB (short)
13 rolled two inches too far for my key ball (good pattern though)
15 w/ good BB/CB position, JUST missed the rack with CB (long)
23 missed an EASY shot. Felt like a MORON, rack was WIDE open
12 worked balls in wrong order
2 balls, yep, TWO. Got stuck on a cluster.
3 still pissed
6 calming down
9 feeling better
10 reasonable, I can go do something else now...

I gotta tell ya, I felt really good practicing. I have HOPE yet!

Of course, I got to practice in my new shirt I got from OTR:

I tell ya what, watching Jeff Mohl play last week was motivating. Gimme a few years, and I'll break into the 30s :)

missing break-balls and gimmies is just a lack of concentration. tighten up a little and slow down and you will be stringing racks together.

Keep at it. Like Sausage says, just slow down a little on key situations and concentrate on stroking the ball straight and following through on your break shots and good things will happen.

I saw Mohl last night. I think he ran a 30 something and a 20 something on his way to splitting his two matches.

Are you going to keep playing him? Is he far from you? He is a bona fide 14.1 fanatic and shoots pretty darn good patterns.

If he'll have me, heck YES! I'd love to keep playing with him. When we were playing he had a 3-4 rack run as well. As if it were nothing!

He is a great teacher, great coach, and a good example. I truly enjoyed his hospitality, and found that we have other things in common.

Of course, I couldn't BUY a pocket when I went over to his place, and played like I'd never held a cue... but he was patient and tolerant.

If he'll have me, I'd love to go over there again. He is about 45 minutes from me, and well worth the drive. Any feedback from him about me by any chance? I know he doesn't frequent forums.

I had a small handful of double digit runs today, the best of which was an 18. I thought that the break shot for the second rack was interesting. I could see 2 ways to play it. Draw into the near rack corner or follow to the foot rail with left english and try to hit the far corner. I chose the draw shot. The clip shows this shot and the rest of the run including the fairly east shot that I missed to end the run. Note the shot immediately following the break. I thought it rather clever of me to find and make that shot. How would you have played that break. All comments and criticisms gratefully received.

dave: i'll try to download and watch later tonight. i think i've mentioned this before but i used to play some 14.1 with a very good one pocket player in north dallas. he missed a gimmie and starts jumping up and down in frustration: "WHY CAN'T I PLAY THIS GAME!". lol.... there's something about straight pool that turns even very good players to frustration.
