New Case Design - what do you think?

Well here is something I have been thinking about for a while. It's also something that comes up as a suggestion from you all at times.

Hard cases with removeable interiors.

Once upon a time New Image cases did a dealer case which was a plastic outer shell and had removable trays with sleeves on them for the cues. This was a good idea but the outer shell was a bit flimsy. Since that time though the idea has always been simmering with me.

Well finally I made up a prototype for myself to see how I like it. I have been carrying this case around for a few days and so far it's working nicely. I have to tweak the boards somewhat as they are currently not as efficient as I would like them to be. But as a proof of concept it works well.

What do you think? Do you like the idea of having highly protective cases where it's very easy to replace the liners as needed?

My concept here would be that that you can have the protective rigid sleeves in a separate "storage" case and then when you want to you just switch out cues by taking the whole unit out and sliding it into your regular case. The sleeves can be easily custom made to fit any cue if needed. Things like extensions, bridges, etc, are now easy to carry as well as they can be put in the case alongside the sleeves, or a custom sleeve made just for them.

Also the sleeves are easy clean with a steamer should they need it. Meaning any chalk dust or other debris is easy to remove.

This case holds 3x6 with the current sleeves. With the new versions it should go to a 4x7.

So anyway that's the kind of stuff I am working on besides just making pretty cases.

Great idea John. I am always switching cues around. This looks like something I could use. I will be in touch.

This seems like an excellent idea. The possibilities have been rattling around in my head for some time as I've been looking at these pics...

I really like the concept John! What would you estimate the cost would be for extra 1X2 sleeves that could be interchanged at will. Also, would it be possible to incorporate a velcro flap that could cover the tops when the extra sleeves with cues in them weren't in the outer case? I like the idea of being able to take just the inner sleeve into a bar or to a tournament match without having to watch your whole case when busy playing. I've heard several cases being stolen while the player was at the table concentrating on his game rather than his equipment. I have a cheap cloth sleeve I carry in my pouch for this purpose, so I can leave the rest of my stuff locked in the trunk of my car or in my motel room when not needed, just bringing the cues I'm using at the time.

That's a nice design and lends the idea that one could change the color of the interior quite easily, for customers who wanted a particular color inside the case.

Thanks for thinking of us pool players and leading the way with innovation John.

Interesting!

It ads no value to me, I don't think, but I don't have 5 players to switch between.

Actually, frankly, I hate to change players. It is like not playing for 2 weeks.

Still, I love to see a guy advancing technology!

Frankly, I think figuring out how to organize the pockets better would be worth more to me.

John you always seem to do things out of the cookie cutter mold

John you always seem to do things out of the cookie cutter mold that other seem to get stuck in. Your are an innovator in the world of Cuecase Makers. Personally I think this NEW IDEA, ROCKS!

looks pretty, is it a heavy case though? and do you ship this lovely case to Kuwait? Thanks.

Versatile design!

John, The versatility of removable sleeves for the cues is pretty awesome.

That's a nice design and lends the idea that one could change the color of the interior quite easily, for customers who wanted a particular color inside the case.

Thanks for thinking of us pool players and leading the way with innovation John.

Color options for sleeves (a differect color for each cue) is a great idea.

And sleeves options for a 1 butt/1 shaft, 1butt, 3shafts, etc. would be good too.

I'm glad I saw this before I order a case from you!

Chris, what do you mean "_IF_" ? I can't imagine you giving up pool! That would be a real loss to the pool world! IMHO
I think you're "on the brink" of being a really top pro! Don't blame you for taking a little time off. Sometimes that can help you clear your head and maybe even get rid of any bad habits you may have developed, that you don't even realize, BUT you must get back in to the game, when you're ready of course. If you have any doubts, come to Cincinnati and I'll try to beat some sense into you! :D Just kidding about the last part, but just the last part! :grin-devilish:

Yes, this is particularly good for cuemakers and dealers.

I really like the concept John! What would you estimate the cost would be for extra 1X2 sleeves that could be interchanged at will.

The actual price of the sleeves would be pretty low, no good info on that yet but they are relatively easy and quick to make.

Also, would it be possible to incorporate a velcro flap that could cover the tops when the extra sleeves with cues in them weren't in the outer case?

Of course. The beauty here is the flexibility.

Very nice... Can also fit jump cues in as it can be pulled out... I'll get one.

Yes of course.

That's a nice design and lends the idea that one could change the color of the interior quite easily, for customers who wanted a particular color inside the case.

Thanks, color changes are absolutely one of the things that lends itself to this method.

Interesting!

Frankly, I think figuring out how to organize the pockets better would be worth more to me.

It's on the list. :-)

And sleeves options for a 1 butt/1 shaft, 1butt, 3shafts, etc. would be good too.

I'm glad I saw this before I order a case from you!

Sure enough, all those things are possible. We will finish up your design soon and if possible then we can do this new interior.

it takes to much time to stay at my top speed
for the money thats in pool.
im not saying ill never play but i never liked the tourney trail.
i dont get a lot of action so its tough.

The case pictured is $450. No extra charge for the interior. When I start to offer these interiors then they will just be one of the interior options you can choose from.

Tack on another $550 and we can make it really pretty with a bunch of flowers and stuff. :-)

In the words of the immortal uncle Morty, "whatca waiting for, you're stealing from me at this price, go ahead I vill just go vitout dinner for a few veeks....." ;-)
