anybody that knows me, knows that i like to have fun, lots of fun
sometimes i need a diversion , a break , from the everday tedious work in the shop
although this diversion was in the shop too
a guy i know was at my shop awhile back and the gist of the conversation was about what woods to use, what combinations of wood, what looks good with what and so on
so i told to him to grab two of the UGLIEST pieces of wood off the rack,
and let's just see how it turns out
here's his picks, zebrawood & padauk , eeeeeeeeegads!!!
sounds like an awful combination to me

dont know what i will do with this cue yet
i havent had a finished jb cue for 3 years, mine is an unfinished junker i never completed from about 5 or 6 years ago
i may keep if for myself?
may sell it?
may raffle it off at the midwest show?
may toss it in the woods behind my house?

I like it.......

All cues should be this ugly Brent........... Maybe Ima sicko, but I actually kinda like it!

That's so freaken fugly... Send it my way and I'll fix it up... Paint it all Black, then it will be a gem. I'm feeling generous, I'll pay for shipping...

I think it's pretty cool, too! The weight sounds like it'd be a pretty sporty jumper.

Ugly Cue

I see nothing wrong with the shaft.

The joint work looks great.

I see nothing wrong with the rest - other than the wood of the forearm does not compliment the rest of the cue.

I wonder if you could switch forearms and better match the coloring/grains of the zebrawood.

It is just a little too much contrasts between the woods for my liking.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and functionality is the main goal. (if it don't pot balls, use if for a toilet plunger handle or tomato stakes.)

HOWEVER - I do not want you to consider this a knock against your work. You have some amazing examples of cues. Everything from points, butterflies and masse' cues. Quiet a variety for sure.

i think youre missing the point
it wasnt supposed to compliment each other
i think its ugly as hell too and wouldnt have considered this combo
the point was that i asked my friend to pick out two UGLY woods
this was his choices of UGLY
and as far as i can tell, at a 3 to 1 ratio, others like it
once again, thats the whole point
what one person thinks is the most horrible looking cue,
some other person thinks it's the neatest thing on earth
it's all sujective,
like the hit of a cue

i just got home from trying it out,
i let a bunch of other guys try it too
it breaks as good as any other break cue i've built
personally, i like it for the wieght of it, it works for ME
screw the looks
i dont look at a cue when im using it
i just use it
ugly and functional are two seperate things

Maybe you're on to something here.... Start your own line of "Ugly Sticks".

:grin::grin::grin:
back when i was bass fishing fanatic, BP (before pool)
there was a brand of rods called ugly sticks
i could use this ugly jumpbreak to thump those bass on the head :smash: :smash:
is there a fish smiley somewhere?

Well, I wont call it ugly because I like your quality of craftsmanship, you seems to do very good work on every cue. But I will say this, I would never pick that combination. It just ain't for me.

me neither
that was the point
and thanks for the compliment

Funny how some seem to grasp and some just don't

Ugly never looked so well built and functional....a face...I mean, a cue only a true pool player could love. Just sayn' :outtahere:

I Shoulda took a picture of one I made out of ''walking stick root'' talk about FUUGLY

the guy that inspired this "ugly jb", is a cuejunkie
but he was out of work at the time, so it wasnt built for him persay
a couple days ago, he tells me he's back to work again,
got some disposable $$$$ again,
and wants to come get this cue
timing is everything
maybe there will be another "ugly" in the works????

You can build me another one, I'll send him this one, and he can pay you for the one you build for me :)

throw it out!

you should throw it out your back door into the woods like you suggested! Just please givbe me a heads up the day b4 :)
