My new Gus....the doubters said it couldnt be found:)

Friends, This is a Gus that I just received today after a few weeks of making it happen.. Thanks to Anthony (tonyboy59 here on AZ) for contacting me, and being great to work with throughout the whole deal.

Thanks to Dennis Searing for the "record" lol time on the shaft. Dennis will be sending me a another package soon with a letter of authenticity that I will post up as soon as it comes.

I am the third owner to this cue, that was ordered in 1978. The original owner and Anthony both kept this cue all original. And let me tell you why.

This was sent to Barry for authentication when the original owner sold it. Barry authenticated it and said it was in great shape!!! Barry stated that he would not refinish it and that it was one of the BEST all original Gus cues that he had seen in quite some time. Oh yeah, it has the original Fellini case with it as well.

The cue has 2 original shafts at 13.5mm:eek:, One with played with about 50 times per original owner, and one that literally looks unhit, but the original owner said he hit less than 10 balls with it. Ivory ferrules, and THE ORIGINAL CHAMPION TIPS:thumbup:

This is an unreal cue, and obviously very rare, as not many still look new, and have the original tips on them from 1978.

The butt of the cue is 100% DEAD NUTS STRAIGHT, and both shafts are near perfection. The butt and shafts were spun by Dennis and as he told me the butt is 100% straight. Both shafts when rolled, are the straightest shafts of any cue I own.

Now, I didn't want to mess with the original shafts so the deal was sort of "handled" by Dennis Searing who I asked to make me a shaft that I could play with, and low and behold....What did I get, but the most unreal shaft taken from a group of shafts that he was saving for himself, that could quite possibly be 40 years old or so. The shaft literally matches the cue as well as its physically possible.

This cue is absolutely phenomenal, for the age and originality. Of, course this Gus has a blemish or two, chalk that up to the patina and aging process, but when 2 top cue makers tell you that you have something special, and that is is unbelievable that the cue has never been refinished and looks like this, I know I am a lucky guy:thumbup:

Thanks Anthony and Dennis for the job and deal on this cue. I hope Dennis doesn't mind me posting up some of this, and I am sure he will call me by the end of the day to see how I like the shaft. Sorry for the length of the post but here are the pics............

The cue is 58.5 inches so I had Dennis make the 3rd shaft at 29 so it would be 58" with his shaft so that's why its a little shorter..

I have many many more pics, and some better I will post up if anyone is interested:thumbup:

If the cue is 59 inches it might be Jersey Red'scue that I bought from him.It is a piece of history at any rate

Beautiful.

I could look at pics of this cue all day long. I would love to see more if you have them handy.

The definiton of classic. Mr. Szamboti is well deserving of his legendary status. It is shown in a relatively simple cue such as this.

Just look at those shafts...

Congratulations,
Chris

Gus' cues are tops and this is an exceptional example of his master craftsmanship. The kid that made the third shaft aint too bad either. Thanks for sharing.

Dean the cue is NOT 59" nor is it Jersey Reds. I am the third owner and I know the name of the person who ordered and bought it first,as Barry had his name in his fathers ledger still, and I know the person I had bought it from had bought it from owner number 1.

I couldn't be happier...

If Anthony (tonyboy59) posts some more cues up for sale like I have a feeling he might, please dont hesitate to buy from this guy:thumbup:

Doubtere's

There's no doubt that this is a nice acquisition.

Good hunting
Thanks for sharing the story and the pics

Congrats on a great get. Dennis really did nail the shaft, too!

That is an understatement....He really did nail it and I am thrilled to death:grin: Thanks everyone for the nice comments....This cue will be at the Dayton show along with a BIg Hercek, a Ivory inlaid Tasc, and an ebony on ebony SW. And a sweet hitting Runde Schon.

Didnt forget about you Tony, we are gonna do something....As you can see my focus shifted:thumbup:, it also ran my inventory down a BUNCH:eek:

I'll be ready soon!!! and your my man:thumbup:

Thanks Mark for the numerous compliments. You have an exceptional stick...so take care of it. My compliments to Dennis for an outstanding job on the third "player" shaft...he is certainly the craftsman. I recently sold some Fellini cases to a collector on this site last week and he was a happy camper.

I appreciate your indorsement as well. I have several more cues that I will be posting for sale (TS, Omega DPK, JW(s), SW, etc...). If I can only figure out how to reduce the size of the pics so that I can post...lol.

That's not a cue,that's a tomato stake,now this is a cue

Nice.

Was the fellini case original with the cue or picked up along the way.
