JB,

I am unfamiliar with the ACSS shafts. Are they low-deflection, etc? What is the scoop on them?

Joe

Yeah... they're LD, there is a phenolic insert in the shaft where the pin goes in. I'm not exactly sure of the construction techniques, but I'm sure a search on the net will yeild some info. The joint is 3/8x10 and the tip is 12.6mm. It plays a lot like a predator but it is a 1 piece shaft... They come standard on musashi cues and those go for no less than $1000 usd in japan i guess.

Since you quoted me Joe, I wanted to make sure the price of $215 is noted. I decided $250 is simply too high on this one.

After doing some research on the internet it states that Musashi cues are made by Adams cues...which are made by Mezz cues.

So is this basically a Mezz shaft?

No...it is basically a Adams shaft! In fact ACSS is a abbreviation for “Adam Centre-Core Super Shaft”. The Adam logo is plain to see on the shaft.

mezz used to make adams cues years ago. i don't think they do anymore

Technically, Mezz never made Adam cues. The Miki company made Adam cues along with Helmstetter cue and other brands. Miki signed a contract NOT to sell their own brand of cues. In 1994 (I think) Miki separated from their American partners because the Yen became so strong that American orders declined dramatically. It was at this time Miki introduced their own brand...Mezz cues.

can anybody other than myself on here vouch for these being REAL NICE shafts? Input would be appreciated!

Although I have never used this particular shaft, it is my opinion that Adam cues is currently making the BEST production cues ANYWHERE! Their top of the line cues, including the Balabushkas, are better than any production cue here in the states! Since the ACSS is their top of the line shaft, I would think it is as good as any LD shaft...if not better!
