I see someone on ebay selling New Palmer Cue sticks and was wondering if anyone knows who the supplier is where you can purchase them wholesale and if you know where they are being made. In the first post I spelled Palmer wrong in the title and didn't know how to fix it thats why the re post
Thanks

I'm guessing these "Palmer" cues are being made in Taiwan for this eBayer. Maybe you should just contact him if you want to buy a few maybe he'll give you a deal. I personally wouldn't touch them with a 58" pole- someone trying to decieve an unwitting public will not get my business.

They are definitely Chinese imports despite occasional claims otherwise. The Palmer name had been used from asian sources without permission from the original Palmer company (which closed in 1994), then taken over by this e-bay seller. I get this confusion all the time.

Are you saying this seller is importing them and selling them. I doubt if you go to the seller himself you would get any help there as far a buying wholesale if he is the only one selling them.

If you're just starting out and will have low volume, you might want to look into this:

This one is good too; http://www.cueandcase.com/

If you think you're willing to buy in larger volume and don't want name brands, you can google Kao Kao or Tai Can, or any Asian manufacturer to order some cues. Here's a bunch of them:

I won a Palmer on EBay for $42. Was it worth it, very much so. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. I shot a few games with it and it was ok, not outstanding or anything that would blow your hair back. The construction was well executed.

Keep in mind that there is no way that you will be able to compete with any of the Asian sellers on EBay. You probably will get the same wholesale prices as them but after dealing with shipping, taxes, duty, they will cost you considerably more. Pounding a few out locally would be your best bet.
I know, I tried it a couple of times.

I don't know if or how the Kao Fa wood company is affiliated with Kao Kao
or Tai Can etc, but they all do make nice cues and I believe that you will be amazed at the wholesale prices.

If you are interested in going that route, PM me and I will give you details
on a company in Taiwan that I dealt with. They are pretty obscure and you won't find them on any of the Asian Trade Market sites that Chris gave you. Can you imagine, paying $38 USD for a serious quality 3 piece J/B cue that can easily be sold locally for $100 plus? Of course take into account what I mentioned to you as over head. I don't mind giving out my lead as I mentioned, I tried it and the players in my city are cheap beyond reason and would rather play with a Wal Mart cue, the hassle and grief was not worth it any longer on my end.

Ron (Mreightball) e-mailed my web site and I just spoke with him on the phone. He's a very nice guy and is in the pool table industry on the east coast. He really wanted to carry Palmer name branded cues.

I wish they would just use a different name so I would not keep getting letters like this, which came in 10 minutes ago.

" Hi Chris,I bought a Palmer cue the other day.The guy told me it was about twenty years old.A local cue maker just told me that it was made in china. Could it be chinese? I hope not. Thanks"

I get a couple a week like this. I'm going to put a "not a Palmer Original" link on he front page of my site so maybe people can avoid buying cues they think are the originals.

I do tell people they are not bad for the money.

"Palmer" cue (new)

This cue belongs to a new young friend of mine. It says Palmer on the but cap and I am just trying to identify the threads. It has a piloted hole but if you can tell me what the thread/pin type I would appreciate it.

I am going to order an OB shaft for him soon but I have a feeling this is one of the Asian import Palmer cues as it is relatively new looking.

Thanks,

Chris...Pete did originally sell the rights to the Palmer name to a Chinese company. I used to see them at the BCA trade show every year, selling what I believe were "junk" import cues. Don't know who has the name now.

Hi Scott,

Peter told me the Taiwan company just started using the name and there was nothing the original company could really do about it. The original company closed in 1994 and had no interest in pursuing it.

Okay...I got my information second hand from one of Pete's salesmen, who then went to work for Mali. I defer to you.
