Lambros Extensions

So I made a trip to see Mike Lambros the other day and he surprised me with these extensions. I've never really been big into extensions since they didn't feel as solid as a bridge. Mike handed me his cue, screwed in one of these extensions and setup a 14.1 break shot where I'd usually grab a rake. Obviously, it was easier to make with the extension--- however, what REALLY grabbed my attention was how solid it felt it my hand. The extension literally felt like it was PART of the butt, and not an EXTENSION (if that makes sense).

This particular extension is 6" which helps me get to CBs that are about at the level of the back of a 15-ball rack (based on my height) --- which basically opens up the entire table for a shot. My extension is ebony to match my butt, but I didn't have him finish it because I really couldn't wait to have it. Plus, as far as I'm concerned--- who CARES if an extension is shiny?

It was awesome to watch Mike do his thing. I'm no expert, but he cored-out the end of my butt and placed a phenolic core in the socket and threaded it (not using technical terms - because I'm not sure). He then replaced my bumper with a bumper with a hole in it.

Here's the extension pin/bolt. It's really big and completely LOCKS the extension to the butt. It's about 5 quick turns to put it on / take it off. Although it's not a quick-release per se, it takes literally 4 seconds to put it on or remove it.

According to Mike, all of his cues will be shipped with an extension-capable butt (although the extension itself is extra). Get this-- I offered to walk to the Wendys at the corner and get us some burgers. When I came back with the to-go order, my cue was already retro-fitted and my extension was ready to go.

I know many of you probably haven't tried extensions or some have (like myself) and didn't like them because of the flimsiness feel of them. This thing feels like the Terminator. Anyways-- just thought I'd share this --- best money I've spent in a long time. Mike's the man.

Nice read and pics. I also heard about this from Mike and he´s putting it into my cues also.
I sure would be fun to see his shop and his work up front and I hope I can visit some time. The phone bills are growing:-).
I rate his cues as the very best I have ever tried, they are amazing.

Thanks for sharing
