I don't think the posts are gone.
Have you tried searching through your subscribed threads? This might help if you remember the title of the thread. I just found a post that I made in 06 by going to the last page of my subscribed threads.

I've never subscribed to a thread either,but many people have.
Try posting some titles.
You've had some good posts..someone may have it.

I'm pretty sure those posts haven't disappeared. The site software has changed a bit, but unless the admins are also deleting old threads, the posts are definitely in the system.

Go to advanced search, put in your own name as poster, select "from 1 year ago", be sure to choose "and older", select sort by "last posting date" and "ascending order" and "posts". That will give you your oldest 1000 posts. If you change to "descending order" you will get your most recent 1000 posts that are at least a year old.
If you can think of a word that appeared in an old post you are interested in, it will likely not run into the 1000 post limit on searches. For example, if I specify "rack" to appear in posts by "Bob Jewett" the search finds 208 posts more than a year old and going back to April 2004 when I joined.

so, there all here, it's just there are some limits in place, so as not to tax the servers to a extreme, seaching thru 1.2 million posts for keywords or other search criteria. The 1000 post results are basically telling you to refine your search to be a little more specific:smile:

Thanks for posting Jay! Always good to here from another "old coot" like myself that has trouble with these modern computers! (Was a lot easier when we just had beads on a string.)
I know you have trouble with them too, because if you looked at my join date in my avatar, you would have noticed that I wasn't posting yet in 2006! :grin::grin-square:
