My First cue..

I've been doing repair work for about 2-3 years and I'm just now getting around to finishing my first 3 piece butt. This is my first attempt at posting pics, so I hope this works.

The cue has a stained maple forearm and butt sleeve, with a white/ brown linen wrap. The handle area (under the wrap) is purpleheart. The joint and butt cap are phenolic. The stitch rings are made from Ebony and micarta.
The ferrule is Ivor-X. The pin is 3/8 x10.

The cue is 58 in. long and weighs right at 19 oz.

Thanks for looking, and please give me your opinioins.

Steve Hasty.

Having seen a few first cues, I can say that without a doubt, that is the best one I have ever seen. Is that really your first, or have you snapped a few practice runs over your knee?

I have to agree that is is quite clean looking. You obiously took your time and were not too hasty. Very sharp work. Not sure why you used purpleheart under the wrap, but that's ok. I am interested in how the cue hits also... and what your brand name is/will be.

Thanks for the compliment.
No knee snapping yet. I have thrown a couple of pieces of wood across the room though. This cue has a simple design and wasn't very difficult to build.

Welcome to the addiction. It only gets worse. Saw dust is worse than crack.

Beautiful cue to me. Nice work.

If you consider selling it, I wouldnt mind owning that first one.

I used purpleheart to gain some weight in the butt. I also heard that it was more stable than maple.

The maple looks to have good grain in it y stain ? But it does look good ..

I didn't plan on the stain at first, but after sanding, I thought the wood looked a little bland. It turned out darker than I had planned, but I'm happy with the results..

I like the basic ringwork. But, I'm also of the opinion that staining maple is criminal.
