Changing collar on a shaft

How difficult is it for a cue maker to change the collar on a shaft? Here is my situation. I have a Scruggs but only one shaft. I was thinking finding another Scruggs shaft but if the collar does not match, can a cue maker change the collar?

Thanks for help

easy fix but it should fit

Thank for the response. Next question, how do I know I'm buying a Scruggs shaft? There are unscrupulous people!

Hi,

Put the new shaft on the cue and feel for eccentricity before you buy it. It may or may not fit perfect. After you put on the new collar you can make subtle changes to the size with the sealer and the finish coats. It would be your choice to live with it if it is a little off.

As an alternative, any competent cue maker should be able to make a shaft for you where the rings match and the weight is close.

I know where you can get a duplicate with Tim Scrugg's taper.... Leon Sly has Timmy's old shaft machine with all the programs still in it..... I talked to Leon just yesterday.....
