Cues by Drew

I've had this cue for about 5 years. It looks like it might be an old schuler but it does not have his name on it. Instead it is stamped P. CUE 1 on the butt sleeve. Any help would be appreciated. The cue is not in that great of shape. Is does have a warp to it and it looks like the joint collar may have been replaced. But I would still like to know what it is thanks.

I have 4 Ray Schuler cues. That is NOT a Schuler. The insert on Ray's cue was generally made of Aluminum, though I do have one that used brass. The insert should have an outside diameter of 0.440" (all 7 of my shafts are exactly that) and it should protrude from the shaft about 0.32". There is some variance there. The wall thickness on your shaft insert is too thick to be a Schuler and it doesn't extend far enough out of the shaft. The screw on your cue is also too finely threaded. Ray's were/are 5/16" with 14 TPI. The threads aren't cut all the way to the bottom, so they should have a slight flat spot in the bottom between the threads. Ray also designed his joint to give lots of wood to wood contact, which your cue lacks completely. His shafts typically used a single black collar, unless he was making it specially for a highly customized cue, which this cue isn't. I'm talking thousand dollar cues and up, so don't get the impression I'm bashing on your cue. He also used a bumper that didn't thread directly into the butt. His used compressed O-rings to keep it in place. It required a pretty good sized cavity. Based on my knowledge of his cues since the 90s, it isn't a Schuler, but I hope this helps.
