Help ID this cue?

I can't find the exact model, but it is definitely along the lines of the Rich/Imperial/Brunswick cues made in the late 1970's coming out of Taiwan, although this cue looks like it's higher quality than those.

They had a lot of similarities to Adam cues - in fact, I would say they were copies of Adam in many regards. The joint screw looks like early Adam but the shaft insert is very unusual and the joint iteself is thinner walled than the Adam cues. I haven't seen a shaft insert (pilot) that thick before.

Without knowing the maker, it's hard to say.

Is this a 6 point cue?

I will look though my additional materials and see if i can find something similar along the lines of National cues. I have a lot of the old catalogs.

The butt looks like a Taiwan cue - "inspired" by the Adam 8 point style.
The shaft insert is very reminiscent of cues from the Philippines I have seen.

It is reminiscent of Adam but something doesn't look right, the space between and the size of the pearl dots, maybe? Sure looks like a made in Taiwan to me.

Edit: I'd agree with Chris about the joint and insert, too.

I'm confused. You said you had the wrap done with stacked leather and the original was white/green wrap. Don't the pictures show a wrapless cue? Are those pics from the cue before the white/green wrap?

Look again .. it might look wrapless but I'm pretty sure it's polished up stacked leather wrap. I was also thinking your line and had to look more carefully.

Holy crap, really? WOW! Never knew you could get stacked leather to look like that, I'm super impressed!

Back in the early 80's when I was a fledgling cuemaker I bought a few blanks from Robertson's in Florida that were supposed to have come from Adam's Cue Co. which bear a strong similarity to this cue. It could have been an American cuemaker such as myself who bought the parts from Robertson's and put this cue together. Some of these old cues we'll just never know who made them. Cuemakers have come and gone over the years and a lot of them, started out buying pre-constructed parts from places like Robertson's, Prather's, Verl Horn, Burton Spain even Gus Szamboti and put them together to make, sometimes, fine cues before realizing that cuemaking is a "labor of love" and not likely to make them a good living, before they moved on to more traditional pursuits. A lot of them never looked back and have forgotten all about pool and cuemaking and never heard of AZ Billiards or any pool forums. As I said, some of the cues out there we'll just never know who made them!

I really like the retro look, the points are sharp and well done who ever made it. The ring work does not match any I have seen. It may be a knock off but it cleaned up nice and plays better than I would have expected it too.

Before I started on my last rant I missed the part about Bill putting the stacked leather wrap on the cue. I thought it was a wood handle also. If the cue is a full splice, I'd really think it's one of those blanks I mentioned as they were all full spliced and not too many people out there make 6 & 8 point full spliced cues other than Adam's.
