I for one am tired of looking at posts that start either true or positive that turn into p _ ss_ _g contests. On the top of the list is one custom cue and one custom case manufacturer (who I won't name) that seem lately to be the biggest culprits. I for one would NEVER buy anything from either of them and will tell anyone who is contimplating a purchase from them that they are nuts.

Sorry, my rant is done!!!

That's a damn SHORT rant! Next time, cut loose a bit more. You'll feel better afterwards ;)!!!

Who could you ever be talking about?:D

Also, the 'seem lately' part could be changed to 'always'. I do not even know what thread(s) you are talking about, but I can only guess.

pi-sing contests NEVER get old....I used to win them all the time (thank you Diet Mountain Dew). I mean, be it name writing in the snow or who can hit the furthest point away from where you are standing, how can that be seen as anything but good old fashioned clean fun??!! :p

It's getting old for lots of us. Thing is, most ppl don't seem to be willing to say something about it.

It really boils down to 3 choices:

1. Try to ignore it and sift thru the clutter
2. engage said idiots and morons in a flame war
3. everyone notify the moderators

Personally, I would say that #3 is the best choice. While I have always been more of a "handle it my way" type of guy, I would say that dealing with the idiots and morons is the moderators job. That is what he signed up for.

True enough, Wedge. But, for some reason, pointing out the truth never changes the ways of the culprits.

An opinion, whether it has merit and is backed up with substantial evidence, is still one person's take on a subject. Agreeing or disagreeing should never escalate into a personal problem unless you're dealing with a moral or ethical point.

Yes, I do have a keen grasp of the obvious. :D

Best,
Mike

If you're going to opt for #3 on your list instead of #2....
,,,then I think it's only fair that you change your avatar....:)

Some excellent posts have been made in the 'flamers' and you,Eric
have made some good points in them.
Getting too polite or PC will interfere with the vitality of the forum....
..or, as Minnesota Fats might have said, "If you want peace and quiet,
go post in a wax museum."

That is correctamundo, as long as the mod's can tell who the idiots and morons are, and pick the correct side.

On a side note, not too many people get the opportunity to "handle it my way" as you did. We can only dream about it

Well then, Mike, methinks you earned a new moniker:

Mikjary == MOTO

...which could mean "[M]aster [O]f [T]he [O]bvious"... er... or... "[M]ike's [O]therworldly [T]ake on [O]bserving". :p

Lets face it, some people just do not understand a simple principle sometimes you can accomplish more by saying nothing at all, I mean silence truly can bliss.

I use to get involved in all the drama filled debates, especially when some one was trying at least in my opinion to take unfair advantage of other members. I thought by doing so it would help others, however, in the end all it ever did was make me look like an ass and nothing positive was accomplished.

I have always been a little hard headed which is common for most us with Type A personalities. However, I have never had a problem looking at myself and evaluating my own behavior, it may take time but I generally see things as they really are.

Since my re-birth :yikes::grin-devilish: I have stayed away from these kind of threads or offered useful information from a non-bias point of view which is not intended to fan the flames. Like I said above by saying nothing forcefully negative it is blissful and I enjoy my time here on the forum much more than in the past. I will not stand for a bunch of bullshit, however, if I respond to it, it will be in much more professional manner with respect for all concerned.

C'mon you guys, it's summer time. The poolrooms are deserted. We gotta have something to do.
I think flame wars are the perfect answer. Especially if they involve a certain case maker from the far East.
They're sometimes funny, always have lot's of drama, and are are just the thing to while away an afternoon in front of the old Hewlet/Packard. :)

We need to chill out on the flame wars so that the a fore mentioned case maker in the far East can finish my case. That's my opinion :)

The afore mentioned case maker won't finish your case. Some Chicom will.
When you take it out of the box it'll have a "Made in China" sticker on the bottom of it.
How do you like them apples? :)

I want to say in all seriousness that I hope one day everybody here has an opportunity to go to China to see for themselves - first hand- what an absolutely incredible country it is.

Many people we met in China, once we got to know them, were wonderful. They were hard working, respectful, educated, humble and exceptionally polite. They are a culture run by the educated youth. It is an upcoming, vibrant culture, in many ways vastly flawed - moreso than we can imagine. Seems to me communism was dying old school over there, everybody's trying to figure out how to end it.

In my opinion, "Made in China" is not a bad thing, no more than made in Italy or Made in Japan is a bad thing. This is false patriotism. The item may be bad, but where it's made is inconsequential. If China serves us, it is at our pleasure.

You need to take off the rose colored glasses, Chris. The Chinese were communists back in the day, and they are communists now.
When the time comes to fight it out over the remaining resources, who do you think is going to be doing the fighting.
Rather appropriate, being flag day and all.
