Hey All.

Just found this old footage (Circe 1999 I think) of Oliver Ortmann shooting Snooker in Australia vs Hann.

Oliver makes an unfinished 75 break. Very nicely done for a "pool" player.

In my opinion, puts a bit of an end to the discussions that "pool" players can't play snooker, but snooker players could easily beat pool players....etc etc...ad nausium.

The event was the Lindrum Masters, which was a multi discipline event held in Aust around the turn of the century. I believe the event was slightly marred by poor refereenging decisions, although this match was free from any of those complaints.

At around 5:45 the commentator says:
"Ortmann has made plenty of century breaks at snooker".

So it isn't a game unfamiliar to him, but, poking around the web, I couldn't find anything to tell me how much he has played.

Unlike Americans, players from other countries may have some familiarity with snooker. For example: Alex The Lion and Mika.

Tony Drago, from Malta, in 2003, won the Pool Masters and reached the quarter finals of the World Snooker Championship. If one goes by total prize money, Tony is a snooker player first (more than 1,000,000 pounds), and a pool player second, by a wide margin. :D

So all those American pool players, grumping about the lack of tournaments and tiny prize money, can pack their bags and go where the money is there for the taking. If they can. :D
