Hi,

Here is a sneak preview of "The Armageddon Cue" that is being unveiled at the Windy City Cue Show this Saturday. There are esoteric nuances and symbolisms contained in this art that will be revealed at the show. It is a detailed hand painted cue with air brush template shading performed by Ken Simonsen. His canvas is our fully cored, three point, three veneer cue with Ebony forearm and butt sleeve with 30 stich sterling silver rings in 5 positions.

This cue's concept has been in development for over four years and it is the first of our Masters Collection which will depict the history of world events through the imagry documented on collector cues. This first cue depicts the end of the world as predicted by the Mayans on the vernier equinox in 2012.

Esoteric Cue and Artist Ken Simonsen have joined forces to develop our long term plan for this collection whereby we will build 2 cues for every world event theme on our roster retaining one of each unit for our collection. This collection will be owned jointly by Ken and myself as The Master's Collection.

This Master's Collection will take many years to complete and Ken and I are excited and extremely focused about the exciting journey that we have undertaken.

Some of the cues that are now being built for our draft design themes are:

The 9-11 Heroes Tribute Cue ( showing the raising of the Freedom tower and the events of 9-11)

The Moon Shot ( Apolo 11 )

The Civil War

The American Revolution

Honor of the Samurai

The Wild West

I have known Ken Simonsen for many years and he is truly a great artist trapped in the world of commercial art. Ken and his family have a extensive involvement in the pool community and he was the former Graphics Artist for Pool and Billiards Magazine before becoming a full time independent commercial artist. This long term cue project is giving Ken the vehicle to express himself without any limitations in the cue world.

I am so excited that Esoteric Cue and Kenny have made this long term Master's Collection commitment and I am sure through this collaboration that we will make our mark in this area over time.

Enjoy and Thanks for looking,

Rick Geschrey

The first eight photos were taken at the the art studio and do not have a clear coat finish yet.

All details of this cue were hand painted with a sable hair liner brush in Ken's capable hands. Note the small signature performed with the brush. All 3D shading where done with an air brush.

The perfectly aligned stone work with asymmetrical joints are a feature of the architectural reality of the Chichen Itza Pyramid in Mexico. This detail is depicted in the art seen here.

That's sick work right there Rick. I love how the 3D air brushing works on this cue.
I would love to see how this type of work could actually be handled on a CNC with inlays, etc to achieve the same results - possible but very hard. Outstanding work Rick. About time for you to start posting some of your cues.

Thanks Tony,

I am just the cue maker, the credit goes to my great friend and very talented artist Kenny. Wait till you see the other cues in the pipeline. He's over the top.

Wow, that's some awesome paint/airbrush work !! It will certainly be the best of its kind I've ever seen done on a cue.....by far. Congrats, guys, and thanks for posting these pics here.

If it were mentioned to me i probably wouldnt think i would like the cue. But the artwork on the cue is amazing. It really does make the cue look 3D! Im sure this will get a lot of attention at the cue show.

Kens work is simply amazing to say the least. that cue is a work of art and thats what this is all about right art . that kind of work on a bike tank would cost thousands , putting it on a small round surface is unheard of . I had a cue done by ken years back. before I found him I called all the best airbrush artists in the world they all told me to go fly a kite . its way to hard I was told well not for ken. Great looking Rick , I would start the bidding at 5000.00 its worth it.

one ken did for me

Nice to know Ken's still got it!

Amazing! When you hear airbrushed cue this is not what usually comes to mind.

This is some SERIOUSLY well done art on a beautifully crafted cue. Always loved Ken's work in P&B.

I scrolled back to the top and got goose bumps , that cue is hotttttttt !!!!!!!
Way to go Rick and Ken...

Thanks Darrin,

This cue is not for sale. It is going to New York next week for an appraisal from one of the biggest auction houses.

Ken and I will not sell this cue. When we do, we will leave it in the hands of one of the known and reputable Cue Dealer / Agents or it will sell at auction at some point.

Because each cue will have only one duplicate for the masters collection, Ken and I hope to make a collection sale 10 years down the road. Kinda like a cue 401K program. I hope? Big investment in time and money to get a job like this done. From start to finish over 4 months of time in the cue shop and art gallery.

See you at the show,

Rick

Looks like Tommie T's Jungle Cue.
Nick :)

Ken Simonsen is a master of cylindrical artistry!

You speak the words of a very wise and handsome man who also happens to be well-endowed.

Nick, please tell me you didn't really think this was all inlay work.

- B <--------- wouldn't be surprised.

I do not like painted or airbrushed cues at all. Ever........until now. That cue, and the Hills cue, are outstanding. And the talent it takes to achieve it are, to me, mind-blowing. What a great concept, and at least from the pictures, flawless execution. I REALLY wish I could be at the show. I hope these cues get as much attention and admiration as they deserve. Great piece of art. Thank you so much for posting the pics. I hope more will follow in the future.

Dam that's sick .. don't sell it cheap . The art work is sick ..

That takes some amazing talent to do, but I have to be honest and say it has absolutely no ascetic appeal to me. "Different strokes for different folks."

I got to see this cue in person tonight with a coat of clear on it and have to say these pics do not do this cue justice. Both Rick and Ken did an outstanding job. The artwork in this cue is amazing. There is so much detail in this cue you really don't know what to look at next. Everytime I got back around the cue I noticed more detail the second and third time around. The 3d look is a whole other story. Hats off to both. Great job with the cue and the art.
