This is 3d modeling software that I have used for other hobby interests of mine for years. I have decided to start using it for my cue designs. This way, If someone wants a custom design, they can see it first and approve it, make changes or what ever. I think this will allow me to get exactly what the buyer wants. This is a redwood burl design with ebony and ribbon Anegre. Check out these pics, you can barely tell it isn't a real cue.

I was kinda wondering what was so awesome about that cue, then I read closer. That is unreal...

It is called 3d studio max....same stuff they use for shreck, cars, etc. Animation has been a hobby for years

That is pretty cool. I've seen your work on here and I like what I've seen. The cork wrap looks really good and I'm not so into linen wraps so it's another alternative to naked (wrapless), and leather. The woods you use are beautiful too.

That is unreal. I think there would be plenty of people willing to pay for your services to see a design before they order it from you or another cuemaker. (me included).

Did you subdivide the splices and texture them separately or is it one uvmap? It looks pretty good. I've made cues in the past with Cinema 4d, the spices always give me trouble. You should post a pic of just the geometry.

Those look great. I've never tried 3D Studio though I did a few with POV-Ray a couple years ago. They came out OK. I never tried to make a splice, though.

That's some pretty awesome work with the 3DS Max software. Did you teach yourself? I tried to teach myself how to use it a long time ago and I never fully understood it. It's a pretty neat idea to be able to show your customers a rendering of the cue. It would definitely make the ordering easier.

Figured I would give it a try. Here is an ebony/ivory cue with silver rings and hoppe butt/leather wrap.

Do you just use a standard model for the cue and then change the texture mapping for the different designs???

Great job cleary! Did you use 3d studio or something else? Having never done this before, was it harder or easier then you thought it would be?
