Anyone who’s ever subscribed to or just read Billiards Digest is familiar with George Fels. George is, by many, considered to be one of the premier writers on the game of pool today. I first became acquainted with the man and his work in the now defunct National Billiard News. When I learned, through that journal, that George was going to publish a How To book on pool I was delighted, to say the least. I wrote to George in care of NBN inquiring about the book. I got a very nice letter back from George and he told me that as soon as the book was published he would send me a copy, gratis, in an expression of appreciation for my interest. That book was Mastering Pool. Neil, myself, and several other AZers always recommend this book when requests from new players arise on the forum, as they often do.
George later began writing a monthly column for Billiards Digest. I’m proud to say that I have an almost complete run of the magazine from Vol. 1 No. 1 to the present. Like many other subscribers, I skim front to back and George’s column is the first thing I actually read before everything else. His articles are articulate, well written, informative, and usually, just plain fun! One of my favorites has been the article “101 Tips to Improve Your Game” from the February, 1991 issue. As a Christmas gift to AZers, I would like to, again, pass this article on to anyone who wants one. I first did this a few years ago to be given out as a give-away at the opening of a new local pool room. I even got email confirmation/permission from Billiards Digest to do this. I’ve given away copies on AZ once or twice before and the response has been quite good. The article is in PDF format, almost four pages and comes in one file. On a suggestion from CaliRed, the file is now available from the following link and pms with email addresses will no longer be necessary. http://www.mediafire.com/?mm8qzs2uwg4cotb I understand that some people feel it's not a good idea to give out email addresses even if they have more than one. I have three myself. If you do download the file and like what you read I would appreciate hearing from you.
Happy Holidays!

If you would like a copy, pm me an email address, which will not be passed on to anyone else, I assure you. I get email confirmation of pms before I see them on AZ before I even login.
Thanks

Edit: I will continue to do this through December 23rd at least and maybe to the end of the month. We'll see. Some people have forgotten to send an email address in their pm. If you send one and do not get a copy or hear from me try me again. I'll have to clear pms as I go.

It's sounds like a great read and it's nice that you are willing to share, but why not just attach it to this message? Or just put it in one of the millions of places you can share a file and give people a link to it?

I just I don't understand the whole piecemeal approach that requires people to send you a email address and THEN you will send it to them. In this day and age, everyone is trained to not just blantantly give out email addresses. It's so bad out there that many people create a spam or junk email address for the very purpose of using that one, instead of their personal email.

I remember reading a thread, it may well have been regarding this very subject, where it was filled with people opposing this practice. Whenever a person asks in a forum to have someone email them their address, it never fails that 1/2 the people just post their email in the forums for all to see, even the email harvesters.

Your free to do this in any method you desire, but I practice what I preach. I have made everything I have done, publicly available and have made it available to be downloaded.

Maybe you can let us know why you need people's email address, as opposed to just sharing it.

No need to get offended or anything:) I'm just curious and I asked a simple question politely and offered my opinion politely.:)

Myself personally, I'm jealous of the fact you have a complete collection of BD issues.:)

To be honest, and I am, I just never thought of posting it here as an attachment. This is the way I've done it before and no one complained about it, at least to my "face". Now that you've brought it up, I may do just that. I'm not sure just how it would work for this, as I've never done it before. I'll answer the requests I now have a bit later and we'll see.

You might want to chek with BD/Mr Fels to see if it's OK to post online.

Dale(also a big fan of the book)

For anyone taking a second look at the post, the file is now available to download from MediaFire and does not require you to pm me an email address.

Thanks!

I've always loved George's writing and appreciate your gift. That, and your collection of BD issues, makes me wonder if there is a book somewhere of all of Mr. Fels' monthly columns together in one spot. What a great gift for any pool lover. Happy Holidays and thanks again.

Thanks alot man. That was very kind of you. I had also taken the pdf and optimized it and reduced the size from 4.7 mb to 1.3 mb without much loss of quality. Makes it easier to transfer and such.

You can download it here for future distribution if you wish. The attachment size is limited to 100kb which is 1/10th of a mb is why you couldn't attach.

I try to read everything George writes. He is a true aficionado,

and a very knowledgeable player. When he writes about it,you get the facts and the emotions of the action. His" How to books are well written and Proffessional. My copies are well worn, by frequent use. The Bca Hall of Fame should make room for this great writer NOW! mark- been since 07 since I shook his hand.

Much respect to both pushout and calired. I really love pool history. I have a newb question though: can someone explain to me (and I can't remember the #) how you can hit the cb with low and not make it draw, other than a kill shot. Am I missing something?

Not sure what you're talking about but we learned to hit the ball low without using a draw stroke, concentrating on the speed of the stroke to play "short" position shots. Years ago, after watching Mizerak in exhibition, somebody remarked that Miz was hitting the ball quite hard. A good player spoke up and said that was true but he was hitting the cue ball below center without drawing it and making control of the cue ball easier.
I don't see anything in the Tips concerning what you're referring to.
