2012 AZ/OP members room interest thread

Talking with Greg Sullivan we have decided to see if there is enough interest in the room to make it worthwhile this year.

Without going into too much detail, the last few years have been dropping in members and things have gotten side tracked with the One Pocket challenge in the room and no outside monetary help from anywhere except myself, we need to see if we can get at least 60 members to have the room. We'll recruit room monitors or figure something out about the non-member playing issues if we have the room.

Lets see if we have enough interest first. Save all the comments for another thread please!

All you have to do is post if you would be in.

Thanks.

I'm in for anywhere up to a $50.00 fee.

Although, I have to say, it would be cool to see Diamond promoting more overall in the AZ Forums to generate extra interest in the DCC. The economy is tuff right now, and it will require more effort by the promoters of the event to get people to come out of pocket with their money.

I have already plunked down my money to reserve my spot in one of the tourneys, to get a ViP pass for my wife, and to reserve a room for the entire tournament.

The lack of interest (from what I am seeing in the forums) in DCC and lack of ramped up promoting in the DCC forum is making me VERY nervous right now.

To tell you the truth, the AZBilliards room has been one of the big deals for me in years past when I could come, and if it does not go down this year, I may seriously reconsider next year whether I want to shell out $2500.00 or so to go in 2013.

1. TAR is not going to be there? (Uh oh.)

2. AZBilliards room possibly not going to be there? (Uh oh..)

3. Economy is tuff, and people have voiced their opinion that they do..not..like.. having the tournament in a casino, because it kills the action?
(Triple Uh oh..)

Russ

(Please don't shoot the messenger. I am currently unemployed right now and living off savings, part of which I am using to go to DCC. I am showing my full support. I just see less excitement this year in DCC, and feel Greg might need to step up a little to promote the DCC a bit more this year.)

I always kick in even though I never play. If you have it again I will donate my traditional 25.

Interested

I would be intersted. I would also be interested in helping do monitoring. I live close, plan on taking the whole week as a vacation and do know Greg (used to deliver tables for him when he was getting started years ago).

I am in. The room was usually empty late at night except for Deeman and Ace.

I'll be there from the 25th-28th. Could anyone explain to me what the AZ Room is and what my donation is good for? Considering the amount of time I spend on this site it is still worth my donation...I was just wanting to know the rest of the story.

The AZ/One Pocket room usually has 2 tables that are free to play for paid supporters. The time of day determines how busy the tables are. I usually spend my days and evenings playing in and/or watching the tournament. The tables are usually not too busy late night/early mornings. Great time to practice. From my experience, there are a lot of people that support and don't use the tables at all. Well worth the money in my eyes. Wish I was going this year, I would be in definitely.

Steve,

You should add a poll to this thread. It can be public and easier to respond

Thanks for the info. I was in regardless, but the perks make this a deal.

It don't look like we are getting much response. Maybe a link posted in the main forum. The biggest problem, the last couple of years, is non-members and non payers coming in the room. Maybe a bigger sign saying Private room. If it happens, I will send my dough in. By the way, thanks for all you have done for the room, and for pool Steve.

I've been reading the forum threads for a few years, and am going to the DCC for the first time this year, (24th - 29th). I'd be happy to pitch in $50.

Yes!

Sorry I didn't even check AZ over the weekend, so I'm late adding my confirmation.

I'll be there, and will be happy to donate.

Thanks Steve, and I am all in. This post was hard to find and should be put in the Main Forum Where most people hang out. I appreciate the hard work you put into this. I love supporting the AZroom and paid last year and did not even come, it is just good to see the users enjoy themselves. Folks are always sticking their heads in the room wondering whats going on and agree that it should be promoted more. Intruders IMO are future members and should be looked at as growth. I know the coin tables make a ton of money but when you look at it there maybe a way for Diamond to have a flat fee for tables in a seprate room for those interested in joining AZbilliards (you know like a late fee) that would benifit both AZ and them.
