Sorry ahead of time for the horrible pictures. If needed I can probably take better ones in the future. I'm limited to horrible lighting in my house. I am just curious to the kind of wood these are made of. I'm pretty sure one is cocabola but I have not the slightest clue on the other. I'm looking to get one of them converted and I'm wondering which wood is "more" desirable. Thanks and once again sorry for the pictures.

They maybe both coco, or both E.I. Rosewood. Better pics would help.

My guesses are Brazillian Cherry (Jatoba) for the wavy grained cue and Rosewood for the straight grained one. Both were commonly used on Brunswick Hoppe Cues. Better pictures would help.

Desirability like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some like more visually prominent grain patterns and some like straight grain cues. My concern would be directed to the veneers. I might pick the cue with the most vivid veneer color combination. This assumes that all the veneers are tight (may not be true). Also is the Willie Hoppe signature still present on the forearm?? Are you going to restore the cues or make conversion cues?? Restoration labels are available with minor deviations from authentic ones.

Choose your cue builder with care. Make sure he/she can answer these questions and show examples of their similar efforts.

Thank you for the replies. I'm having a hell of a time taking pictures of them with out glare. The one with the more stright grain has yellow colored lines in the wood. I wish I could get it captured in a picture better. I own a Gilbert butterfly Brunswick conversion, so I was thinking about going with him. I was also thinking of just selling them but I have no clue what they are valued at. A local cue collector told me 250-500. Yes they both have Willie Hoppe's signature. They also have the number 18 which I assume is the weight. I will attach 2 more pictures that show the grain a little better. Still not the best pictures though.

I like the one on the left with the wavy grain, but its all about the points. Check out both cues and decide on which one has the best points or convert both cues. Mitch
