A year ago Craig Rittel told us the story of how he had given a deposit to Chas Clements for a case which Chas had said he could do. Chas overestimated his ability to return to work and fulfill Craig's order and eventually stopped answering the phone as he was unable to refund Craig's money. Craig really wanted a Chas Clements cases but it seems as if no one else will ever get another one.
Chas is my friend. I am not a very good friend to anyone though as I don't really keep up with them. But this time I decided to try and help where I could and at least take this burden off of him. Craig had paid $1200 to Chas and I offered to make a $1500 case for anyone who paid Craig his money back. Craig generously offered to sell this spot for $1000.
Dedy Loekun from Indonesia stepped in and bought Craig's spot. We ended up making two cases for Dedy to settle this order. One was a simple Mason case to have until the bigger case was done.
Dedy's second case is a Buddhist theme using images that he supplied which have meaning to him. He has been very patient with us as we rebuilt our tooling staff and we appreciate that consideration.
Buddhism is essentially a never ending path to enlightenment and self-awareness. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism The idea is that we are constantly reincarnated to learn something else. That is the most very basic idea of Buddhism presented by me who doesn't really know. So feel free to educate me.
Anyway the name of this case is The Path. Thank you to Dedy for taking a chance on us and allowing me the opportunity to help one of my teachers in his time of need. Thank you to Craig for being so generous about it. And also thank you to all those that stepped up and helped out at the time to get Chas through a rough time.
I have a few more to go but am very happy that this was the first one we made to settle some of Chas debts to customers. I hope that he would be proud of how we built it, rodeo tough, just as he taught me.
