From the label and the signature on the forearm, this is the earliest of the Titlist branded cues. This cue was made in the 1940s and looks to be in really teriffic shape.
I have to tell you that I really cringe when I see a beautiful example of a 70 year old cue heading to the saw for conversion. I know it's getting a new lease on life in another form, but an oak example in such good, original condition is a rare bird. I don't mind converting the ubiquitous rosewood varients at all, but the thought of chopping up a really nice ebony, oak, or purpleheart one piece Titlist is like nails on a chalkboard for me. John Davis and the Prathers make really nice tribute blanks if anyone wants one in one of these rare wood species.
I was lucky enough to spot an oak Titlist on eBay some time ago. It is big as a baseball bat, and someone had already chopped off the shaft, so it's a perfect candidate, and I'll be doing a wrapless conversion on it in the future. I also have one or two other oak Titlists that are still one piece and in good shape.
