First of all this is my first post at AZBilliards. I am in the process of selling off several pool cues and a snooker cue for the wife of a very close friend that passed away in October. I need help on getting a value for the snooker cue. It is a Lewis & Wilson that has a ash shaft with brass ferrule, ash spliced into ebony butt, an ebony short handle, and a long extension that is black, but most likely painted as it is too light to be ebony. The cue and handles are in a BCE hinged box style case. I believe he bought this cue in the mid 1990's. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

A few picture would help a great deal as from that we could see if its 1/2 jointed (least value) or a 3/4 or a one piece, wether it be hand spliced or machine spliced and from the badge a Lewis and Wilson original or one of the chinese ones made today as the brand name was sold when L+W folded up.

With pictures of the ash grain (all four or at least a straight line view and the v's view) we can see if it has many tight straight lines and evenly spaced v's which are valued more. Even points both top and bottom of the splices if hand spliced show a well made cue and are worth at least double any machine spilced job.

And of course its' spec,(length weight, tip size, balance point and butt diameter) to sell best it's going to be of an average spec.

Without pics and more details it's anyone guess but at best your looking at £100 tops and at worst a fiver if it's straight otherwise give it to someone who grows tomatoes.

Thank you for replying Wity. The cue has an original screwed on Lewis and
Wilson plate on the mace, which I forgot to say on the first post has a butterfly splice of 3 woods. The Lewis and Wilson trademark is also on the extension. I will try to post pictures.

I forgot say based on my experience with high end pool cues I believe it is hand spliced.

Sorry for being a wise guy with you and Wity....
..but pictures are really needed for these things.
Here's the best I could do...gives an idea of these cues.

I am not offended PT109. The cue pictured in the link looks like junk compared to the one my friend had that I am trying to sell. I have and own several pool cues that are in the thousand to 10 thousand dollar range. I am trying to help out my friend's wife and do not want to give his collection away.

Here are pictures of the cue and case.

Thanks for the information guys. I will probably just pay my buddy's wife for it and add it to my own collection.
