Simonis 760 vs 860

Looking to install new cloth on my 7ft Olhausen table. I like a faster table and gather that 760 is faster than 860. Is it too fast, though, for a 7ft table and a player whose cue ball control needs work?
 
To me, 760 is totally ridiculous for a 7' table. I think 860 is on the fast side for a 7', but plays nice. A 7' table eliminates quite a lot of your stroke to begin with. Put 760 on there and you will be left with absolutely no stroke. Every shot will be bunting balls around. I personally don't understand why any pool hall would use 760, unless they are the ONLY place to play around. There is one otherwise very nice table (9') set up near me with 760 on it. I can play on it for free, but I don't because it is too unlike any other table around here. I would get the 860 and try to preserve some of your stroke for those times when you go to play on other tables.

Thanks. I'm also not opposed to a different brand if it would be better for my small table. I don't know what brand was installed on my table when I bought it but it's something cheap. It shows wear spots bad from breaking and seems to have stretched in some places. In certain spots on the table it will bunch up under my fingers when I make a bridge. Not sure if it's a characteristic of the cheap cloth or if it's the fault of the installer, but it didn't always do that so I figure it has stretched. These things are what put me on a search for a top notch cloth brand and led me to Simonis.
 
Simonis for sure...going with a cheap-o might save you $50, but it is a long(ish)-term investment, so do it right!
 
I would not think 760 would be appropriate for a 7 foot table...860 would be a better choice. Also take into consideration "where" you compete and what "they" use. It does you no good to be a champion of "your basement" then go to your local pool room or bar and get slaughtered because you can not adjust to their equipment.
 
IMO, 860 (installed correctly) plays plenty fast for pool tables. The installer who did my table uses a specially designed pair of vice grips to stretch the felt, making it very tight and very consistent. I think RealKingCobra, AZ's own celebrated table mechanic, uses a similar method and actually measures the amount he stretches the felt each direction. I have played on 860 installed loosely, and it is much slower and less consistent than what is on my table. I think that is the key - look for an installer who can stretch it very tight in a consistent manner, and you will be happy with the 860.

I have 760 on my 8 foot table, and it is very fast--but gives me an advantage when I go to play on the 9 ft GC with 760 on monday nights. Many people consider 760 to be too fast on an 8 ft table.
