Acceptable or Not?

Anyone out there think a warped/defective cue is acceptable out of the box?

Want to see the video, PM me with email add., I can't upload it off Flipshare to this site, but I'll send it to anyone who wants to see the proof.

I bought a new cue from a well known production company featuring a LD shaft in late December. Sent it back because the butt had a roll, shaft a slight one. Put them together, and it was obvious something wasn't right. I suspected joint alignment. Sent it back.

Got the replacement yesterday.
Butt is perfect, shaft has ever so slight roll. Put them together and the roll is obvious and something is NOT RIGHT:angry:

I suspect the joint in the shaft end is not properly aligned. What else could it be.

I find it totally unacceptable to buy an almost $400 cue that is defective out of the box, especially after sending it back and the replacement is worse than the original.

I will post the cue manufactures name after my next conversation with them.

My McDermott from '94 is straight.
My Mezz is straight.
My Lucky by McDermott is straight.
My used Lucky with a Tiger Pro-X shaft is straight, dead straight.
My Fury break cue is dead straight.

NOT straight out of the box is unacceptable, anyone else? They almost balked on the first return. I have no idea what they will say now, but the video doesn't lie.

clean the joint faces with a a small piece of scotch bright or sandpaper... You be amazed at how much just a tiny bit of dirt/sawdust can effect the roll when assembled... If it still rolls off back it goes......

my predator cue was defective out of the box (one of the threads on the shaft was loose, it got jammed while I was trying to unscrew it after one week of use... and a uni-loc too LOL! got it unbolted eventually and thought it was just dirt, but then the cue started making funny sounds like a beanie bag as well as unscrewing itself slightly during normal usage), sent it in and waiting to see if the replacement is better... should be ok, haven't heard people have troubles with pred but still what are the chances? Jamming with a uni-loc, wasn't the whole point of the design to prevent that? lol

I thought that was what a uniloc joint was best known for

No need to ask this question .If your not happy with it,send it back.

But i dont think there are many cues that are perfect!!And I mean PERFECT!

If the cue is an import cue, quality is in far to many cases hit and miss. If the cue is a US production cue builder they deserve no consideration, the way things are today American companies have no room to make mistakes like this.

Next if the company / distributer doesn't honor another return due to a unsatisfactory product that they sold you they do not deserve to be in business. It is their responsibility to check their products before they ship them, once a mistake can happen, twice shows they have very poor quality control and that they should be exposed.

I would return it for refund at this point. They've had two bites at the apple and have come up short both times. And let them know you will just file a dispute with your credit card company if they don't cooperate.

The cue is American made. Yes you would think it would have been inspected before shipping, but no way in hell it was screwed together and rolled on a table. I don't care if it was put in a lathe and the joint and tip don't move. A simple dial micrometer would show a significant readout 8"-14" from the tip, enough for them to put on a different shaft and be sure it was right.

Coming from a family business that employes 500 people (peaked at 800 in '07) ....... and has been in business since the 1930's, I learned all about quality control early on. If an order was messed up at our factory and was not right, there was no himming and hawing over whether or not it was going to be run again.

The second time the order was run if needed it was surely checked fully by the supervisor in two departments and the plant manager. We won the award in our category for 15 years out of 20 in advertising specialty products because of it at the biggest show in the USA held in Dallas, Texas between 1980 and 2000.

Quality control goes a long way if you want your company to earn a positive reputation and survive for 75 years, our company is proof.

I don't want a different stick, I just want one that is right as it should be..........period. I know there is no perfect, but my Schmelke from 1973 only has as much roll as this one I'm talking about.

I'm perfectly willing to try a different diameter shaft if it makes a difference in overall trueness.

Does the maker sound a little like... Douchey? No matter the brand, if you like the design and want a good cue, try to buy it from a dealer or individual who will do the right thing.

Then you do not have to name the maker, because the only American company I can think of that sell products like that is Meucci, and that is why I do sell their cue anymore.

I thought that was what a uniloc joint was best known for

Jamming together and not being able to unscrew

Well, there's no teeth on the uniloc like traditional bolt/screw mechanisms so it's much more difficult to "overscrew" and chip off a tooth or something

and for the money you have tied up in those 6 cues (counting the new replacement cue), you could have had a perfectly straight custom built cue with 2 shafts. I would rather have 1 cue that is a good cue rather than having 6 cues, 5 of which I wouldn't use.

Not acceptable... Meucci comes to mind

Ha Ha.. Me too. I wasn't going to say it...But it honestly was my first thought. Sad really, they were so cool back in the day.Even if this is not about a Meucci... W.T.F. Bob?

My first thought was Pechauer...I had a very similar experiance with them and they did not stand behind their product at all...they actually charged me for the repair...I quickly sold it and have never been back!
