I went to the SBE 2012. It is in a giant building that was a factory (I think).

It is large. The exhibitors were numerous.

I met Steve Lomax.

I talked with Chris Hightower and his equipment looks better than ever. He was busy selling a lathe while I was there. Good luck Chris.

I bought a set of sanding mandrels from Basel. (did I spell that right ... sorry if I didn't) I will review them in a few weeks.

I got a free Black King tip from Robert Wong. I will put it on my cue and tell you what I think.

I shook hands with Dennis Diekman. He is still fighting the VA. His beard was green. I think it was pool chalk. I am glad I downloaded his words of wisdom from his web site because it is no longer operating. The Vietnam war left scars.... some are not visible.

I talked with Kieth Josey. Nice cues.... nice guy.

I bought some cocobolo from Bell Forest. Nice stuff. I know who's cue that is for. I met Eric. He gets my special stuff and always comes through with exceptional wood.... ask for him when you call.

The food is a little expensive. I bought some fries that I think were left over from the 2011 SBE. My wife got a tuna wrap that was actually very good.

There was a bar but it was just too early and I had to drive on to Syracuse after the visit.

There were some guys playing 3 cushion............. wtf.... how the hell do they do that???

I am glad I went.....

check the pictures in my album.....

I thought so... I could see the troughs in the floor that were filled in and a bridge crane that is still there by the back door. I worked in a large factory with metal working machines so it looked similar.

thanks

Thanks for sharing... going tomorrow hoping to look for a nice case. I was there for the dog show 2 years ago.

Thanks for posting pics!
No wonder the cues section has no new posts, all the q guys are at the sbe!
:)

I was at the Dale Perry booth and my buddy was just about to spring for a stick. Some guy walks up with a DP butt blown away at the joint, and asks what he would do about it. Nothing, break abuse, or something. Lost a sale. In fact scared off a few people.

Just my personal thoughts but..... you can break as hard as you can with one of my break sticks and hit the 6oz white ball. If the butt breaks, I think I would consider fixing it. But that is just me.
