Another example of Texas table mechanic's!

Kind of makes you wonder why Texas pool room owners don't want to pay more to fix their pool tables up so they'll play right, when money won't buy talent, if the talent is not in the mechanic;)

I stand behind my statement about Texas having some of the worst table mechanics in this country;) but I have reached out to this table mechanic and offered to show him how to recover a pool table the correct way....the lesson is up to him to accept;)

Sweet pancakes of Oden, that is terrible. Honestly, I hope that job went unpaid. Attention to detail. Either you have it or you don't. Fortunately, it can be taught. Show us your magic Glen and don't fotget the update pics.

I recognize that table. The bartender recovered it about a month ago.

Holy Smokes! I ended up recovering my own GCI myself...no experience...only the info I could find on the internet (which is VERY little when dealing with Simonis) and I did a better job than that!!! Wow!

nice work

Glen i see your getting better at covering tables now... did someone in Texas show you how to do it the correct way now. AHAHAH What a joke....
Wonder if they used 3m 10 on the whole table. hehehehe have a good one.....

Now wait a minute....this could be something new and exciting....

Kind of like golf where you have the rough and the sand traps and other obstacles....might need special cues and stuff for the different terrain there.....

All you need to do is to stick flags in the holes...... ;)

Dang...that should have been my line!!! :p

Funny and Sad but the second pic with the cloth bubbling up is EXACTLY what my table had on it in numerous spots after being set up by one of YOUR students Glen.

Granted that work sucks, but I don't understand why you are disecting other peoples work?

So, I guess no one is perfect!!!

I don't think he's offering a degree and certified credentials. There is no regulatory body for the training..... If he showed somebody how to do it I think it's unlikely there was a cumulative final exam .....maybe if there was the guy would have failed the course..... ;)

If one learns from the man himself it is still up to the "student" to apply himself and do good work.

That's what the tables look like at Gradys in Columbia. Some guy named Marty did them. Horrible. From what I understand Scott Rabon is the best table mechanic in SC.

Lone Star State table

A state with fiscal maturity and independence does have its little sacrifices.

:thud:

Got to be good to rise above these challenges.

Reminds me of the television scaffolding falling in front of Happy Gilmore. Did he play it safe for the sudden death playoff or go for the GUSTO !

Russ, I can only teach, I can't apply that knowledge in the student once I've left the building so to speak. What I'm a little mad at, on this table...is there is no excuse for this kind of sloppy workmanship. Customers deserve better work for their money, but customers need to know what's right and wrong as some sort of gage to go by. When a so called "great" table mechanic does work like this, it makes all the real "great" table mechanics look bad, that's just how I feel about it. If no one has any confidants in anyone working on their pool tables....WHY should pool room owners, or home owners care what-so-ever about the overall conditions of their pool tables...when good money spent, don't mean good work performed? I'm sick and tired of MY trade industry being taken so lightly that ANY one that works on pool tables....can call themselves a "Table Mechanic" in the same way that I call MYSELF...a "Table Mechanic"......if someone is going to be called a "Great Table Mechanic"...then I think by god...they should LIVE UP TO THAT CALLING, or be truthfull and let everyone know....they're just a cloth installer and not a table mechanic!!!!!

Glen

If Glen is willing to offer free advise.....along with free on hands training to learn the trade of table repair.....I truly believe that person or persons should jump all over the opportunity. Glen has given tips and advise to everyone of us on AZ at one time or another.
Glen has also given tons of great advise over the phone to all the installers and mechanic's that have a good reputation for doing top notch work on Az as well.
Glen has helped me on many occasions with tables....I've changed a lot ways I do things on tables since I've been friends with Glen.....He's by far the Best Cloth Installer in the country.....His knowledge of pool tables is above anyone I've been around.
If everyone would give the guy the credit he deserves......and not act like they knew everything he has shown or told them.....the installers and mechanic's would still all be friends on this forum. Ego killed a lot of friendships for Glen and I on this forum.....AND TRUST ME NO ONE HAS A BIGGER EGO THAN GLEN...and we get along great....why....cause I show the man respect every time I speak with him......also I always thank him for the info he give's me over the phone.
No one can figure this trade of working on tables out....all by themselves....so take all the good advise from the best anytime you can.

i bought2 really nice tables,really 3
when the first person couldn't get it level i refused the table

the other two never played right

the pockets were cut wrong, flared open and kicked ballsout
so i sold the tables because noone could do them right

our only action pool tables in town are unlevel, poor pockets and
its true no one can make them play correctly

I am one of the lucky ones, yes Glen set up my Diamond. That is not why I am lucky.....I am lucky for getting to know him, he is one cool cat and a riot to talk pool with.

He has ideas and plans for the pool industry that may or may never happen but if I were a betten man I would bet on Glen. I will also recommend, boast about and take a day or two off of work to get a chance to help him on his mission when ever he passes through the Rocky Mountains.

Cobra I owe you a call, just to BS.

Any pool table can be made to play right, if it's a quality table in the first place. Where are you located?
