What's the real deal, "Cue" or "Tip"?

Most "Custom" Cue makers don't want to talk about it. It's their livelihood.

It's nut cutt'n time...you take a broomstick with a good tip...over a "beautiful high dollar" cue with a bad tip every time. {Granted, a high dollar cue would be expected to have a decent tip}, just trying to make a point.

Tips are way cheaper. You can afford to experiment...it doesn't matter anyway. A Triangle tip is consistent, no Delamination.

It's easy to find a really straight one piece house cue. Have some local cue jockey put a joint in the middle. Refinish it, instant "Custom Cue".

With the way the economy is... the price of gas. Time to buckle up for the country.

Your brain works in beautiful random ways...........

I'm whatever the opposite of a custom cue collector is ... but ... it's still a lot more than simply a tip or a cue.

It's weight, balance, taper, type of ferrule and joint, wrap type ( or no wrap) and so on.

None of those things are unique to custom cues. Lots of production cues will fit these bills nicely.

Custom cues are all the above plus the artistic aspect of the cue. Something to this point I never had high enough on my want list to endeavor in, but never the less, a worthy asset for a lot of folks.

I never know whether I should feel sorry for myself for appreciating fine things, or if I should feel sorry for those who can't.

just trying to make a point...

No you aren't. You are making shit up to start threads.

And the premise of this one- "find a really straight one piece house cue. ...put a joint in the middle. Refinish it, instant "Custom Cue".
-is complete bs.

House cues generally do not have a taper that a decent pool player would like. Ferrules are crap. Customers don't own the house cues...and you just like to hear the click of your keyboard.

So by your logic, I can install racing tires on an Edsel and run with the Ferraris....

I think what the OP is trying to say is that a plain jane made by cue maker (insert Name) will play just as good as a big cue worth thousands more by the same maker.

Yes sometimes it does need to be brought up for the new to the game people.
I am so tired of posting something and having a negitive response to it.
If you have nothing positive to say,say nothing.

I DID put a good tip on a broomstick as a gambling gimmick. I played a bunch of times with it. It was nowhere near as good as even a Walmart cue.

I agree 100%. It seems that quite a few people here are content to post whatever they like, but do not extend that courtesy to others.

If you look closely, you will see that some posts have thousands of views and many replies, yet others have none or very few. Let the readers of the posts determine if the post is noteworthy. If it is, then people will read it and possibly post a reply, if it is not, then "nothing to see here, please move along, folks"...you don't have to post a negative response.
