Dan Lawrence died yesterday. Most people won't know him, but he played a lot of pool with the pros back in the 40's and 50's. He was the NY 14.1 state champion in, I think 1941. I've had the privilege of playing with him here in FL for the past 8 years. Extremely knowledgeable player who would share his knowledge with anyone! I will miss miss him, as will anyone who knew him.
RIP Dan!

RIP Dan Lawrence.

Do the pool world a favor, and Mr. Lawrence a service, by passing on what you've learned from him.......to other players that are worthy of doing the same someday.

I don't think I ever learn anything technical about the game from Dan. However, the 3 things he taught me were far more valuable.
1.) He taught me to be patient with my opponent and not to get emotional about any shot he might make. You can only control what YOU do and NOT what he does.
2.) He taught me that there is a comradary amongst good pool players. We never heard of each other when we 1st started playing but became instant friends after we began to play.
3.) He taught me that you promote this great game we play by being modest and polite and it doesn't take just talent to become a great player...it takes character too!

Thanks Dan!
