I had a cue refinished. It came out great... but...the wrap was cleaned and lost the shinny protective coating that most cues(wraps) have. What is the shinny coating on the wrap. How is it applied.
The cue is not a Meucci.

If the wrap was cleaned, pressed & starched, then all you need to do is wipe on a clear sealer. I like to use "BUSEYE" clear shelac. Thin it 4 parts thinner to 1 parrt of the shelac. Apply it with a folded paper towel. It should dry in about 10 minutes & leave the linen wrap shinny & sealed...JER

Bullseye is one sealer I can get in Canada. I've tried Lowes, Depot etc for Min Wax and others with no luck. Nice to know how to thin it.

Up to now, I have been using Hightowers shaft sealer. Amazing how many other uses Chris's sealer has.

On one or two occasions, I have also experimented with a quick wipe of
water based poly. Its ok but would rather stick with sealer. Much easier.

Sealer on a wrap will actually last for quite some time.

I do not have a lathe...will be applying by manually rotating the cue. Can I mask the ends with Blue tape? I did buy a can of Buseye from Home Depot.
I have 2 cues to treat. I'll post the results. Thanks for the replies.

I don't see why not Bud. I used to do lots of things before I got a lathe.
You can effectively put a nice wax on a shaft without a lathe.
A lathe just makes certain jobs much easier.

If the Bullseye is thinned like Jer told you and you don't glob it on, I am sure you can wipe it on with a soft paper towel. Like you said, mask the ends off
and easy does it. I have always had great luck using a small foam brush for doing jobs on base boards etc. No streaks, looks like it was sprayed on.
You might consider using a foam brush as long as you squeeze any excess
out real good on the edge of your container.

Good luck, I'm sure it will turn out ok.
