My new player. Double splice. Schmelke custom

Well, unfortunately I had to sell my Jim Baxter that I loved more than any cue i have ever owned. To this day, the best player i have ever held in my hands.
So to replace it, I got ahold of Steve at Schmelke, and did some brainstorming, and from what they had laying around... this is what we came up with.

I think it turned out pretty darn nice!!! Especially for what it cost me... im pretty impressed!!!

doesnt play quite as well as my baxter... but i like the feel, good balance. no complaints.

Let me know what you guys think.
I will gladly answer any questions :D

I like it . If you had a table full of 10 and 20 thousand dollar pool cues you would have lots of comments . Gl and shoot good . Jim

It's a cool cue, pretty unique...and a unique route to go.

Just what they had laying around eh? Not too shabby!

Sweet cue! I really like the high contrast wood combination and the fact that this is an 8 pointer with a hoppe ring doesn't hurt one bit. Congrats!

Good shooting

Kevin

I like the looking , I think a white butt cap would have made the cue pop.

I thought about the white buttcap, but decided against it.
My only 2 gripes (if im being super picky) are the points dont quite line up perfect ( no biggy), and the white in the cue looks a little "glossy". But overall i am very happy!

Its nice to know when you are on a Budget you can get something a little different , and with a good tip , ferrel and a nice taper , it will shoot as good as anything out there . Good Choice , Jim

Question

Why did you sell the best playing cue that you ever had in the Jim Baxter cue?

I am certainly looking forward to receiving my Jim Baxter cue. If it turns out to be the best playing cue I have ever owned I will not sell it.

Kevin,
That sir, is a very sad story... I have an 8 footer in my basement, in a room that is just barely too small. Because my wife and I are having a baby in August, my ability to "go out and play" has been dramatically decreased. So almost all of my table time is on my home table now. My Baxter was a 60" cue, and anytime that I had a shot where the CB was within 5" of the side rail, I would have to jack up to the point of being uncomfortable and inconsistent. So rather than practicing bad form and playing jacked up all the time, or to let it just sit in the case an not be used... I decided to share the beauty of my Baxter with someone that was free to enjoy it in a way that I am no longer able.
The new Schmelke is shorter and is not an issue with the rail now. Although it is going to definitely take some getting used to playing with a 56" cue... :(
I must say though, other than the balance feeling different based on where the butcap is in relation to my hand during my stroke, playability is not as different as I expected.

If space was the main issue, I would have just gotten a cheap 56-57" house cue...lol. If it's finances, I certainly understand having to sell it. That said, you've got yourself an interesting looking cue there!

That is 100% my taste. Sorry about your JB loss as Hit is very important but like I said, functional art, that is my taste. Congrates
