Vintage Helmstetter 87-10 cue - 4 Points with Veneers and Windows in Butt - $175

This listing is for a used Helmstetter Model 87-10 cue.

The cue comes with a nice Falcon 1x2 hard cue case (that will hold 1 butt and 2 shafts).

It is a very high quality case (that I think was made in Canada), and it has a nice shoulder strap on it.

The cue originally retailed for $540, but I am not sure what the current value of the cue is (in its used condition).

The cue has a flat faced 5/16x18 joint.

The cue is missing the rubber bumper for it, but a new Balabushka rubber bumper (that I think will fit it) can be ordered for it for $5.00 (from G Cue Billiard Store) in the link below.

I ordered an Adams Helmstetter rubber bumper (from an AZ member on here) about 5 days ago, but I have not received it yet (and the member has not contacted me about my order), so I am not sure if, or when I will be receiving the rubber bumper.

The butt measures a little over 28 and 3/4 inches, and the shaft measures a little under 29 and 1/2 inches long.

The total length of the cue is about 58 and 1/4 inches long.

I am not sure what the weight of the cue is, but I think that the butt has a weight bolt in it (so I think that the weight can be changed).

The butt of the cue has many nicks/dings on it (but the shaft is nice and smooth), and the wrap is not in very good condition.

The cue rolls straight (together and apart).

The cue can be professionally refinished for $85, and the wrap can be replaced with a new Irish linen wrap for $40 (from a really great cue repair person, that does high quality repair jobs) at the link below.

I think that my asking price of $175 is very fair price (considering that it retailed for $540, and it is probably very collectible).

Thank you.

I still have this cue available for sale, so please contact me if you are interested. It is really a steal of a deal with the case (that retails for $60 by itself). Thanks.

Helmstetter 87-10 cue - $175

Hi,

I would do $175 shipped for just the cue (by itself), but I would like to add $10 for the shipping and insurance costs if it is for the cue and case together. Thanks.

Justin

The cue is still available for sale. Anyone interested? The wrap is not really in that bad of condition. It just needs to be cleaned. I have a feeling that the cue is very old (because of the Micarta ferrule that is on the shaft). Thanks.

Why am I having so much trouble selling this cue? Is my price too high? It seems like a real steal of a deal with the case included. Where are all of the Helmstetter collectors out there? It is really a great hitting cue (probably just as good of a shooter as the Adams Balabushka cues, and it is just as good of quality I imagine). Please help me out someone, and buy this cue from me. I am only selling the cue because I am in desperate need of money (no food in the house, and barely surviving these days). Thanks.

Helmstetter

Regardless of his genius, Helmstetter has never gotten the regard he should have, because the cues were made in Japan. Nowadays, in all other manufacturing, Japan is rated #2 to the US. Not so on AZ. I for 1, believe his designs and manufacturing techniques were up there with the best in production line type cues. A true custom is one which is built by a cuesmith for an individual. Joss, McDermott, etc., are all primarily production cues, but made in USA and retain higher values. Someday they will get it, I hope.

The cue has been sold (finally, lol). I think that the cue hits better than any american made produtction cue that I have ever used (and I have used all of the production cues that are made in the america), and I am really going to miss the cue. I am already very sad that I will not have it anymore to shoot with.
