Is this return bout for real? I feel sick for both of em. When kids do this kind of stuff they get scolded and sent to detention. But for grownups, it can be hospitals and jail ... obnoxious as FL was, Eric will be the worse off if he lost his cool and did any real damage. Hope this is all BS.

Uh oh - this article indicates that Fast Larry was assaulted friday by a spectator. I hope Eric didn't do it.

AZ Billiards article

Putnam undefeated in Valley Forge

As Saturday play finished up at the Gabriels Open 8 Ball Professional Players Championship being held as part of the Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge PA, the field of 61 players had been narrowed to just 24.

Defending champion Shawn Putnam is still undefeated and will face Tony Chohan on Saturday. Other winners side matches on Saturday will be Johnny Archer vs Corey Deuel, Dennis Hatch vs Charlie Williams and Mike Davis vs Mika Immonen.

Sixteen players remain on the one loss side including Charlie Bryant, Troy Frank, Ralf Souquet and Robb Saez.

Tournament competitor Larry Guninger had injury added to insult as he not only went two and out in the tournament, but was assaulted Friday afternoon by a spectator.

Look for a tournament update on Saturday and check out our forums for updates from the tournament floor.

Let us pray that he is now three and out....
Doug "The Angel"

Yep, it was Eric, unfortunately. It's in the Valley Forge thread by Timberly.

Sounds pretty serious but I certainly hope it wasn't an outright attack - the legal and financial implications could be very sobering.

Brief summary. Fast Larry is an antagonistic poster who made a lot of enemies here on the boards, in the RSB forum, and on the Billiards Digest forum before he got kicked out./ He had numerous false names. He really is a strange one and extrememely insulting. He is a trick shot artist and instructor. He makes a lot of far fetched claims. He is an older man.

Eric is a long time poster here and seems like a very nice guy. 3 years ago, Eric confronted Fast Larry at Valley Forge. I don't think it turned into a fight, but it was close.

I have not kept up with their antics on RSB, but FL must have continued to antagonize Eric.

Here is the original post on Billiards digest that got the boat rocking. You can see, Fast Larry is quite eloquent. His post translates to: "punch me hard, I'm really stupid" in English.

Readers Digest version:

Larry and Eric have been going at it for years on RSB and other forums-

A couple of years ago at Valley Forge, there was incident (verbal) between Eric and Larry, Larry called security or something. Larry came home, got on the computer and told everyone he beat Eric to a pulp. Thats just Larry.

For the past couple of years Larry has accused Eric and I of being everybody on Az, RSB, and every other forum. He thinks Eric and I were Yapping Wolf. That's just Fast Larry. He does the same thing to Mike Howerton - he's everybody too... he might be you too!

A quick google groups search will show that Larry has actually challenged Eric to a fight on hundreds of occasions - Late last year Larry avoided a tournament at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ to avoid Eric after he repeatedly made racist and bigoted comments towards him.

Let me just say that I do not condone violence in any way. I spoke with Larry on the phone and I had told him that if he kept antagonizing people that someday somebody would get their hands on him and he better be careful with what he says and does. Larry told me not to worry and that he was a registered 9th degree black belt in some odd form of karate and that he would kill any attacker with one punch. I guess it didnt work out for him.

I really hope Larry is not hurt. He has had some problems with his back and his eyes recently and his health (physical and mental) has been a constant struggle for him. I am going to try and call Larry's wife Sarah or Steve Lillis this afternoon to see if he is ok.

There is this misconception that I "hate" Fast Larry. I don't, and Larry knows that. We have spent countless hours on the phone talking with each other. Larry has many friends that have tried to assist him over the years to try and keep him on the right path. Every so often, Larry turns on everyone around him, it has a lot to do with his medication. Its not because Larry is a bad person. He's not a bad person. Of course I have received a lot of his wrath over the past few years, but I would never support or condone anyone physically attacking Fast Larry. When I heard about another incident between Eric and Larry, I figured it was another verbal incident, not physical violence. Larry is not a violent person, he just likes irritating people on the internet. Its just what he does.

There are a LOT of people waiting to hear the whole story on the Eric and FL encounter. Someone (Fred, Jimbo, Timberly, etc.) please update everyone ASAP.......
I've been setting off fireworks and throwing beads, toys, candy and trinkets off the balcony to the kids. Kinda like a mini Mardi Gras. I opened a 60 year old bottle of Brandy and some 1970 Dom Perignon. I'm dancing around wildy while wearing a thong and singing "We are the Champions of the World"....... Yeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !

Eric has no idea, he probably does now, what he may have done. He may have wrecked his life and that of the ones around him depending how this plays out. Remember a few weeks ago the guy who drove his car into a dealership he had a dispute with and set it on fire? He had to quit his job borrow money to get a lawyer and finally committed suicide about a week later. Unfortunately what he did is probably not over the $500,000 amount of damage he did to the dealership and law suits that may arise from employees and so on against his family and estate if there is any may still be coming. You just don't do that stuff. As hatefull as we know Larry is, Eric's troubles are only beginning.

I think it's strange that people see a big difference between verbal and physical attacks. Though they are of different kind, they can be equally hurtful and harmful.

An old political ploy it to arrange for an attempted asassination or physical attack, knowing that such an attack garners sympathy. I'm not saying that this is the case here, but highlighting it as a way of illuminating perspective on the politically correct nature of physical v mental abuse.

It is ironic that government's vocation and avocation is to resort to physical violence, and yet the populace must only use it when it is in the service of that government. They monopolize physical violence, and hence condemn its use as it makes claim to their authority. They do not monopolize mental abuse, nor rely on it for their operations, and hence it remails mores in a free-market domain.

However, to me, there isn't a great deal of difference. I'd probably rather a punch in the nose than a concerted public attempt to vilify my character. I think we ought all refrain from all types of personal attacks, especially those spurned by hostility and vengeance.

I do hope the fight was not of extreme fierceness and that the damage was minimal.

(ah, that's Eric on the right end)

With all those tats he will fit right in at jail. Maybe you can lend him your thong.

Since Larry is over 63 that changes the charges from battery to aggravated battery. Nothing to be taken lightly.

Eric must be a real tough guy to pick on a senior citizen.

Jake

You know, we can all whine and admonish Eric for his actions all we want... but who HASN'T read one of Larry's posts and wanted to jab him in the face?

As for him being a senior citizen... I guess he really should have kept the fragile nature of his body in mind when he was berating and making inexcusable sexual insinuations about someone he had never laid eyes on.

I'll be the first in line to donate to the legal fund of the guy who punched FL. Not because I ever had an encounter with him, or even spoke to him for that matter; mainly, because if you can't show an ounce of decency to your fellow man, I don't think he should be expected to have an ounce of pity for you.
