What exactly is an elephant ear wrap? Thanks

I know that elephant ear wraps have become popular lately - I've never felt one, but I have no doubt they are great wraps.
But I personally have a problem with contributing to the demand for elephant hides, which we have little way of knowing whether they were legally obtained or not, so that we can get a few wraps from their ears.
So I don't do them. They are an endangered species. There are other skins from animals that are more plentiful.

Yep, I agree with you. Which is why I made my post above so people know there are wraps called elephant ear that are cow or pig leather embossed with an elephant ear pattern.
I don't know what a real elephant ear wrap costs, but if it is real, I imagine it would be expensive.
My leather embossed elephant ear wrap cost $120 installed. Feels great.

I just passed on a beautiful cue because it has a real elephant ear wrap. What's next, I can't imagine and really don't want to.

I think about $400!! That alone keeps me away. Also have heard it's not always from the ear anyway. Like many other leather items it's about age of animal, type of tanning and other variables. Check out Kangaroo. No guilt with Roos. Thicker than flys down under. Nice leather and tough. I am in the wrap less fraternity anyway. Exotic wood is becoming scarce but doesn't get the publicity as animals. I think exotic woods would be a great investment 20 years down the road. I guess that would be hoarding and maybe not politically correct, who knows. Someday we will have black market ebony and cocobola. Nothing lasts forever.
