Once again the Yule/Christmas holidays are upon us. As I’ve done in the last couple of years I am making an excellent George Fels article, “101 Ways to Improve Your Game” available to AZ members as my gift to you all at this season of the year.
For those few who may not be aware of just who George is, if you pick up a copy of Billiards Digest his article graces the last page every month and often contains tidbits and gems of billiard history over the years. Many AZ members have stated that they turn to George’s article first thing and then read the magazine back to front. George has been writing for Billiards Digest almost since it came out, I don’t remember without looking which issue had his first article but, trust me, it goes back many years now. George is also the author of at least two books on pool that I’m aware of, the first being “Mastering Pool”, which appeared in 1978. I first heard of George Fels through the now defunct “National Billiard News”. He mentioned that he was writing a book so I wrote to him through the publication inquiring about it. He sent me back a letter, which I still have and is in my autograph collection. He wrote thanking me for my interest and said he would send me a copy when it was ready. I received the book some time later and it has been re-read more times than any book in my somewhat substantial collection. It has been lent out many times and old timers who had played many, many years longer than I found things in it that were pretty much unknown at the time. Many AZ members proclaim it to be the best book on pool that they have read.
“101 Ways to Improve Your Game” is a four page article George wrote for the February, 1991 issue of Billiards Digest. Many of the tips had been mentioned in previous issues but this article puts them all together. I received permission from Billiards Digest to distribute this article from a long out of print issue. I first asked for members’ email addresses and sent copies on request but last year my friend CaliRed suggested putting it out on the Web and make it available to download instead. I agreed that it was a good idea as some people are wary of giving out even a secondary email address. Also, this makes the article available to some people here that I may not see eye-to-eye with from time to time;) It contains no virus or other harmful beasties and is in pdf format. If you download this please add a comment as it will bump the thread for those who may not have seen it. I may periodically bump it throughout the month.
Here is the link and Joyous Yule/Happy Christmas to you all!!

Thank you. Downloaded and saved. Seasons Greetings to you and yours...

Changed link to download a cleaner, clearer copy without the ad at the end or the staple and crease lines.

George is one of my favorites and I did read his back cover article before anything else in Billiards Digest. Thanks for providing this.

Thank you! Very valuable to have a reputable article describing issues of beginning play when instructing beginners and a few great reminders and checks I can apply when struggling.

Thank you and Merry Christmas. Your thoughtfulness is what makes this a great forum!
