:: SOLD ::
I just received this cue in a trade this morning and have played with it for a good hour at home. This cue plays so good that i'm already contemplating keeping it but as with my itch to try new toys i've decided to just start this thread and see if anything interesting comes about. So just take this thread as a feeler and no hard feelings when i do turn down your fancy szamboti offer
Here are specs of cue:
1) '84-'86 Jerry Franklin Predate Maple Merry Widow (Was told this isn't a regular pacifier due to stitch rings)
2) 100% original everything except for changed tips, meaning all original ferrule, wrap, finishing, size, weight....(as informed by previous owner)
3) Comes with LOA dated Jan 2011
4) 2 Original Shafts + 1 Predator 314 shaft with matching ringwork.
- Butt Weighs 15.9oz
- Shaft 1 // Yellow Micarta Ferrule // 12.3mm @ 3.4oz
- Shaft 2 // Ivory Ferrule // 12.3mm @ 3.4oz
- Shaft 3 // Predator 314 // 12.8mm @ 3.2oz
- White with Green Spec Linen Wrap
For it's age this cue is immaculate! The only chips are on the butt cap which i've pictured and they're really on the surface only. Check out the edge of the joint, perfect finishing.
Now for the golden question.....
IS EVERYTHING STRAIGHT??
I'm very surprise to say, YES.
Surprise cos having a straight Southwest is one thing, but a straight predate franklin that's 20++ years old is another matter altogether. What's even more amazing is that the 2 original shafts are only 12.3mm thin yet they've remained straight.
I say straight, but for the roll nazis out there i'm gonna protect my a$$ and say it's 95% straight!
Butt is Perfect, but it's real difficult to tell when simply rolling the shafts on the table cos of SW's taper.
I'm not a huge fan of most Southwest cos i find them too stiff (personal playing preference), was afraid this cue would be the opposite cos the shafts are so skinny. I was wrong. This cue is still stiff but a whole lot livelier with more flex than usual and evidently so from the skinny taper.
For those put off by the skinny taper i'd say give it a try cos it plays really good.
I really really like this cue and feel like keeping it, i'm gonna play with this cue until something interesting comes along to pry me away from it. Which means i might be putting on brand new G2 Tips over the next few days. Will update thread when i do.
I am NOT SELLING this cue simply because the market is sh*t and holidays are here and there's no money around...so don't bother asking how much because you'll just end up being upset and feel that i'm a complete a$$hole trying to rip you off (ok i exaggerated but you get the drift).
I am looking for trades of equal value or i might just top up some cash if i really like what you have. But it's not a given. Note that i am currently in China and if the trade materialises the cue will be sent from China via UPS and from past records it takes less than a week. If you're uncomfortable sending your cue to China we can use escrow or i'll simply get a friend in CONUS to accept the cue for me. We'll figure something when it gets to that point.
Please PM me or email me @ jive.ong@gmail.com with pictures and full details of your cue.
