Help me make my Team Captain's B-day/Christmas brighter?

Need any kind of help. There isn't a more deserving person.

My team captain's birthday falls on December 23rd.

Essentially he's entitled to twice the gifts that normal people are accustomed to as he should receive 1 set of gifts for Christmas and a separate set for his birthday. This being said, he regularly gets nothing, but he doesn't complain, but in fact spreads nothing but holiday cheer. I'd be the grinch if I were him.

To top it all off, he buys each of his teammates a gift annually, last year he gave me a cuetec pocket chalker!

I cannot afford to get him anything myself this year as I recently had to move and it cost me an arm and a leg.

He's the nicest individual, he used to play on a predator sneaky, but had to sell it because he had paid for a teammate's dues and that teammate skipped town on him leaving him without repaying his debt.

I read the forum post about the girl Jenny that people are assisting, and while I think it's absolutely fantastic, I have to wonder if it's because she's female that the willingness to help was so abundant.

This guy just gives and gives. He literally puts in more time, effort, and money than he can afford, he gives rides to anyone that needs it, even from the opposing team, I cannot stress how important he is locally to a lot of players.

He is a 5, but I think if he had better equipment that he'd be a 7. He plays on the straightest bar cue he can find. It would be an amazing act of generosity and I know it would completely make his holiday season.

You guys were awesome to offer things willingly to a female that doesn't really know much about pool, does it change that he knows how to play and that he's a guy? He's more deserving in my opinion, but I understand I'm obviously biased, but he's awesome. Hopefully some of the same people or the offers that weren't realized, will help out here as well. Thank you so much for reading and for your holiday cheer. Happy holidays and warm wishes to all of you.

My birthday is Dec 22, so I kinda understand the feeling. I have a Valhalla 01 19oz Solid black cue, no wrap, 13mm that I will offer. PM me where to send it.

rounding out

I have a jacoby heavy hitter break cue. For sale on azb. So far there's a playing cue and a 2x4 case, I'll donate my $200 break cue to round it out. Gimme shipping info.

One condition: must post pix of your buddy opening his dual gift. Nothing beats seeing someone genuinely surprised and grateful by a kind gesture.

I think you should reconsider your opinion of the forums sir. They jumped on the bandwagon instantly, on both accounts!

Good work guys, I was going to offer up my J/b I figured its better than a bar cue.

Get him nothing, and if we all live to see the days after the 21st of this month... Blame the Mayans for being wrong!

I think he'll understand.

Cheers.

I do not have much to offer but, i can throw in a nice billiard glove and some blue Diamond chalk.
Let me know where to send it.
Happy Holidays.

lol this is funny! I remember him saying something about the world ending around his birthday. He said he might have to have a party early so he could "party like the world was ending."

And, this outreach of support and charitable good will is literally bringing tears to my eyes. I am about to respond to all the pms. Thank you all so much. He's actually qualified for local regionals and I'm sure the added confidence from having his own equipment will put him over the top and get him to Vegas.

YOU ARE ALL FANTASTIC! I'm at a complete loss for words.

He doesn't play BCA as he can only really afford to do one, and he enjoys teaching lower rated players, so I don't think he needs a jump/break as he wouldn't be jumping much, but I know he plays in local tournaments where jumping is allowed, and he knows how to, but doesn't have a jump cue of his own obviously. All gifts that were not going to be used would be shipped back to the original owner, with a thank you note from the both of us.

There will definitely be a post on here of him opening up these gifts. He is also a member on here, and I didn't want to release too much info to keep it a surprise, but this is a guy that lost his job 4 months ago, lost his father 2 months ago, and he does not whine, complain or cry. He just picked up and got a seasonal retail job (which is definitely below his credentials) to basically pay for his evil ex's alimony and child support. He's the type of person you want to see make it in life. I cannot express the gratitude I already feel, and you can believe you'll see it in his expression when the time comes.

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!

Matthew whats the thread type on that cue.

Sean

If this information was needed for a ld shaft, I know he'd be interested and that Greg Sowder (local cue guy) could replace the joint for $25 which is something that I would be willing to personally donate, as I'm poor.. :frown:

Literally at a loss for words.

I posted, got something to eat, and then took a shower, and then checked to see all of these posts. In a trying time of year for most individuals, your generosity and selflessness have given me a renewed faith in people, and will try to be more like you during this season. I seriously am about to cry. Thank you so much.

No need to cry
Just try to help someone when you can. Do not think about what is in it for you, just help.

These posts that are basically asking for charity for an unknown individual concern me. While the 2 we've seen in the past few days may be totally legitimate, I'm worried that people will start making posts of this type just to receive free cues and anything else they can attain from those of you who are big hearted and gracious enough to help. Sorry, but I must be a pessimist. If they are legit, then I have nothing but praise for those of you willing and able to assist in something that doesn't concern you personally. You are truly generous, giving people.

I understand the concern and the thought process. When I was reading the Jenny post, I thought similar things. However, this is a bit different, there are more facts and information associated with my post. And if you're an individual considering donating, but are apprehensive, I would give you whatever information (within reason) you needed to feel that you were making a charitable donation. I can GUARANTEE that you will not find ANY of the donated items up for sale, as I mentioned in an earlier post, if he decides against any of the items they will be returned to the original owner.

Also, seeing the outpouring towards the female player, if I wasn't genuine, I think the move was to make my captain out to be a female? Skeptics are always going to be that way. But the genuine people and their outpouring of goodwill, it's been refreshing and renewing to experience.

There will be photos posted of him receiving the gifts as well as using the gifts in league play. Thank you to everyone that has a big heart.

I'm not suggesting that either of the two post made recently.. yours and someone else's looking to help a female teammate, I believe.. are anything other than genuine. What worries me is someone using the same approach who is NOT genuine. Believe me, I could make a post that would have half the forum with tears in their eyes if I wished, but I am not in need, nor would I ever take advantage of the generosity of the AZ community. It's those that would, and do, take advantage at every opportunity they find, that worry me.
