Hi
I wanted some inputs on veneers combination, what looks good, or flashy combinations, i have some idea like flaming veneers but your inputs are most welcome
4 veneers combination if possible
Thanks guys for helping out
Hi, no cuemaker here, just some thoughts that I have when I design a cue for me or if I´m helping a friend.
I can like a lot of cues and veneer combos but for me I go with the colors I like most, I´m a big fan of warm colors like deep brown, reddish brown, orange brown etc, can also have some green in it - nature you could say.
Here´s 2 of my cues:

and one that is in progress:

You can mix and match different colors of your choice of course but you can also have veneers in a "flame" fashion, ascending blue into ebony is real cool, not my own preference but that really "pop´s" good.
In other words, do put some colors that you really like combined with a wood that will help to lift them even further, or the other way around. Most cuemakers are most helpful in coming up with ideas if you give them your thoughts and they probably thinks it´s rather fun not just using the standard combo´s.
When doing your choices don´t just stare on cues, look at things you like in general, car colors, rugs, wallpaper, curtains etc, this will probably help you out a bit - does for me at least.
A cue that has all of "you" in it will be something special for you, both of the cues I have linked is loaded with good "vibes" and working with a cuemaker choosing the wood, veneers, joint and buttsleeve, rings, specs - bp, weight etc is loads of fun

.
A word of advice though is not bug them all the time, every cuemaker works a bit different, some loves to mail you pics etc all the time, some you will barely speak with after you have chosen all the things. some in between.
Ohh also, when you have settled on the design - don´t begin to change everything, this really slow things down and the CM, we'll just say he will probably have a hard time doing the cue...
I usually come up with a overall design and when it´s ready for inlays we talk it over, that´s something we agree on at the beginning.
I hope this will help you and if you need further advice or some guidance feel free to pm me.
Good luck!
Chrippa
