I'd suggest getting a set of DVDs and the book from Chris Hightower. You can NEVER have too much info on this lol.
Plus an assortment of tips in all kinds of hardness levels.
Also a good set of maintenance pins (male/female).
A set of Delrin collets
Cuetec cleaning liquid for the fiberglass shafts.

There is more I'm sure, but hopefully this helps.

Thanks Nathan! I do have the collets and play on using the cheap joint protectors as maintenance pins. Never even thought of the fiberglass shafts!

Quickly looking around my shop, here's what you're missing for cue repairs (if you're going to build cues, this list would be MUCH longer):

30 different kinds of tips
Thin CA to prime the back of the tip
Half a dozen different kinds of ferrules, G-10 and Phenolic
2 part epoxy (5 minute and 30 minute)
Tooth picks, jumbo popsicle sticks, and paper plates for mixing/spreading epoxy
50 through 1000 grit sandpaper
Throw away the Tweeten 9" sandpaper shaper and sandpaper refills; just use a piece of 50 or 100 grit sandpaper
Tenons for your tenon threader
Scissors
Bee's wax & shaft wax
7/16-20 tap, Radial tap (Hell, just buy every dang tap available cuz you're gonna need it eventually)
Get some tape that sticks, otherwise it's not tape, it's just ribbon (yeah, I know what you meant, just being a smart aleck). Duct tape, masking tape, electrical tape, Scotch tape, packing tape
Irish linen (at least a couple different colors), linen press
Solid Leather wraps (diff colors and textures) & rubber cement
Stacked leather, liquid burnisher, Quickshine, water and stain repellent
Gorilla glue, Elmer's glue, wood glue, thin CA, med CA, thick CA
Little flash light
Tape measure
Multi-stage buffing compound
Denatured Alcohol for cleaning sticky residues
Water bottle and Water
Big set of drill bits cuz you'll NEVER have all the sizes you need
A ridiculously vast assortment of weight bolts
Every dang maintenance drive known to man cuz you're gonna get an odd-ball (I have 12 and still need more! But, hey, they're only $40 each.)
Dial calipers for when the batteries die in your digital set
5-piece set of center drills
Dead center, live center (point), live center (concave)
A dozen collets ranging from 10mm-15mm, and a dozen more from 0.60"-1.30"
An assortment of basic hand tools
An assortment of power tools
WD-40
And a whole bunch more stuff I'm missing

And throw away those goddamn Scotch Brite pads! Those are for pots and pans in the kitchen, not a pool cue! If you want to clean a shaft, use some kind of cleaning product. If you want to reduce the size of a shaft, use sand paper.

Good luck! :)

You might want to grab some Ultraskin Oinkers as well. I haven't tried them yet, but if they are as good as the originals...you can't go wrong on the price and you can have a great layerd tip choice instead of recommending the single layer like the le pros.

Something that I just tried was the Stanley carbide blades.

Man, do they cut nice and I am sure that one will get many tips from one blade as to justify the extra cost. Its not a matter of how many uses as how great a job they do one the ones that you use them on.

For the snap off blades for the knives, Dewalt also makes them in Carbide.

Darcy uses them.

Thanks Jeff...I think! :D Seriously, a bunch of things I'm missing and I plan on getting them!

Where is a good place to get the carbide lathe bits? Should I get them from Taig?

Vacuum, grinder and sander .
Apron , magnifier and vise.
