There was a long thread (17 pages) last week about the APA 9-Ball champions being disqualified.

Here is thread: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=310892

I jsut want the pool world to know that we do care. And after confirming the facts, we have banned the players.

I am unhappy that Bill Stock requested the names and that information was not provided by another league. When we became aware of this issue, the APA had taken down all the names and other references.

The BCAPL was named in other portions of this thread and I just wanted to correct that.

Only 2 were in the BCAPL league system.

They can re-apply for membership JUne 1, 2016
(Post #247 is the actual post from Bill)

I just want all the nay sayers and complainers to take notice.
We do care and we do take action.

We are not trying to start a war - BUT needed to set the record straight!

Good for you Mark, they need to learn a lesson about having good character and integrity. People need to be honest and shape up or ship out so good people can enjoy the game and win the right way.

I just sent a message over to the APA office. Doubt I'll get an answer on it, but at least they've got more feedback that people are noticing.

You are sending the right message Mark. I'm glad you reconsidered, verified the facts and made this decision.

Thank You Mark

Those of us that just want to play pool without cheating appreciate your action against the players involved. :)

Thanks for setting a good precedent Mark. I think what might also be helpful would be for the APA & BCA to have some sort of press release about this in order to let league poolplayers know that there will be zero tolerance for this type of behavior.

I'm sure that 99.9% of us complete with the respect and integrity that our sport deserves; it's unfortunate that a small % try to game the system just for a little money.

All the best,

Brian

Well done!

mark Griffin should run pro tour

if the pro players would smarten up they would use Mark to run their tour, players should not try and run it only to make the rules and by-laws to fit themselves, not to give mass appeal to the fans. When they quit trying to run their own tournaments maybe there will be some decent pay days instead of the current ridiculous low prize monies .

What's the connection between the APA and BCAPL?

NO Connection !!!

They are 2 different organizations. Different rules.

The APA basically wanted to brush this whole thing under the rug, so the public would not see.

Mark Griffin runs the BCAPL/CSI. Not involved with this whole mess but wanted to let everybody know, these players are banned from playing in any of his events. Cheaters will not be tolerated.

Good move Mark......

Some of the players on the APA team involved were also on a BCAPL league in their area and have now been banned from BCAPL for 3 years

Yeah I got that part. I was wondering if there is a professional relationship between the two groups. tucson9ball just answered this part of my question

This thread has me thinking about the rights and responsibilities of people claiming to be "pool players" and the "jurisdictions" of people in different governing bodies of pool players.

And to be clear, I'm mostly in favor of what Mr. Griffin did, I'm just thinking about it in a larger context.
